It's one thing to have him annihilating enemies in battle like in rogue one. It's completely something else (something shitty) to have him slaughter powerless civilians like he is some mustache twirling comic book character. Shits fucking trash.
i mean Tarkin killed a planet with 20 billion people on it out of spite. these people clearly give no fucks about anyone, but they do typically leave people alone as long as they toe the line and pay the empire their spacebucks. Vader just killing randos is megadumb unless he was trying to lure Kenobi out which kinda worked, instead of drawing him in for a showdown it just made Kenobi more of a scared little bitch and Vader had to chase him down like a rat. he was probably so disgusted at OB1's cowardice that he let the robot save him because he didnt want to puke in his helmet.

Tarkin threatened to blow up a planet to get Leia to talk, then blew it up anyways to scare the universe

Vader dragging innocents threw the streets to get a sense from obi was in character. He did it vs Luke when. He sensed Luke was hiding his sister

Probably the only thing so far that does "match canon"

Destroying a beloved male character is much easier to do when you use the actor associated with that character. A cartoon would not have the same impact as an actual human.
Meh Obi Wan/Ewan McGregor is the only good thing about this show, not sure what you mean.

Han was turned into a pathetic weakling full of regrets. Luke was turned was turned into a pathetic weakling full of regrets and now they have done the same to Obi-Wan. And this is not to mention what they are doing to baby Luke who no longer is important.

The action is so cringe in this show, by far the worst part. The obi wan/vader actions were just boring and dumb. The cadence of this vader impersonation just feels all off. It mostly sounds like vader, but it does not speak like vader at all.

It took time to get Luke right for the Mandalorian. Careful handling.

None of that was present for Obi-wan or Vader. It's a hackjob and that's why it comes off as fan fiction.

Vader impersonation is a good way to put it. F&F wanted to make sure that didn't happen to Luke and succeeded twice now.

Except Obi Wan was an old man full of regrets when we meet him in Episode 4, this is just the story of how he got there.

Except Obi Wan is back to being a centered badass in just a few years, regardless of how this misandrist cult chooses to portray him in the meantime.

What movie did you watch? To me he always seemed to play the role of the wise old man, the sage. "Full of regrets" doesn't describe his character at all. He barely mentions the old days, and when he does he seems to imply that he is carrying knowledge, that he's someone from a more civilized time.

TV show Obi is a useless weenie in comparison.

At end of ROTS and throughout original trilogy OW and Yoda had a plan that centred on Luke and "no, there is another" (Leia)

The series is filling in the backstory by making him a depressed hermit, which although at odds with how it was left at ROTS, does make sense - failing the chosen one, your master and seeing the galaxy collapse into tyranny has to weigh heavy

No lines from original trilogy re his failure come to mind, except OW hiding the truth from Luke so that he would eventually kill Vader.

Episode 4 Obi Wan was strong and wise. Did he have regrets? Sure, he is an older person so that’s expected. But he wasn’t undone by his regrets. He didn’t ignore his duty to protect Luke because of any regrets. The tv show obi wan is a weakling who is paralyzed by his past and spent ten years wallowing in self pity as if he wasn’t one of the most powerful Jedi in the galaxy. Episode 4 obi wan sacrificed himself in battle to protect Luke, a noble and masculine act. Tv show obi wan is portrayed as someone more likely to suck Vader’s cock than anything else.

the only regrets OB1 should have is not putting 2 midichlorians to the back of Anakin's head when he started bitching about sand.

I didn't get the sense from Alec Guinness's portrayal of Obi-Wan that he was full of regret and some burned out old codger though.

More that he was some badass living his remaining days out in peace. I mean, he's dropping jedi mind tricks and slicing off people's arms in the Cantina without a care in the world. None of this, I have to act like a bitch crap because Empire...

obviously you've been offline and haven't updated your New Hope Krunk Special Edition, patch 4.1 includes updates up to Clone Wars but i'd wait, patch 5.0 should be out soon after Obi-Wan wraps

Just rewatching that, Luke must have been around 25 year old in ANH?

Luke in Obi-Wan is 10 year old.

Ben looks mid 40s in Obi-Wan.

So, in the intervening 15 years he's going to age like 30 years.

Mark and Carrie were teens when they were cast. Guinness was early 60s

It's that thing were people in earlier decades look a lot older than equivalent ages today.

The only exception is someone like Millie Bobby Brown who is 18 but looks 30 in recent publicity appearances

McGregor was probably the perfect casting choice, his age almost tallies up with Guinness. A bald, decade older McGregor probably won't look that different

Also worth considering the possibility that McGregor has had subtle cosmetic treatments, although he is highly wrinkled in Obi Wan, unlike me who passes for half my actual age

Luke and Leia are twins and both are 19 at the start of ANH. Obi-Wan takes place 10 years after they are born (Revenge of the Sith), 9 years before ANH while Obi-Wan is 48 as he dies at age 57 in ANH.

Anakin's issues with sand were right on the money, it ages you

Can you name 1 regret obi-one expressed in ANH? I'm pretty sure the only thing resembling a regret he expressed was as a force ghost in a retcon scene in empire.

youtube just randomly showed me a video of sam witwer (voice of darth maul in clone wars and rebels) talking about the episode in rebels where maul and ben face off. i don't know exactly where it is timeline wise compared to the obi-wan show (5 or 6 years afterwards? something like that?) but he talks about... well let me just link it.

sam witwer is a SUPER nerd, but he knows exactly what's going on. but the way he points out how much ben has grown, REALLY demonstrates how little the writers seem to understand obi-wan. now, i like the idea that obi-wan is a mess and has let his failures ravage his psyche, but ONLY if they show how he overcomes his current state of mind.
