only thing i'd say to think about before you see the movie (imo it "changes" the way you see it) - the movie is based on the real lives of Burt Reynolds, played by Leonardo Dicaprio, and Hal Needham, played by Brad Pitt, and those were real guys who had a close relationship for a big chunk of their life. Hal was a real life stuntman who had a crazy ass life, and Hal directed Burt later in his life in Smokey and the Bandit and stuff.

Missed a lot of that classic Tarantino dialogue but the end is classic Tarantino. Unfortunately the movie is kind of all over the place leading up to it. Still enjoyed it for the most part but it's definitely in my lower ranking of Tarantino films.

I'm not really sure what I just watched. At first I thought it just started slow, but the whole movie is slow. The only good part of the movie is the ending, but by that part I had lost all interest in the movie. I honestly thought this movie was horrible and was pretty disappointed. The acting was fine but the story just isn't there.

I thought it was really, really bad. Hanging out with Brad Pitt as he tools around Beverly Hills with a bitchin' soundtrack was the only stuff that I liked. His dog was also pretty boss. I think Tarantino made a movie for his filmmaker/actor buddies and I just happened to wander in off the street and everyone was too embarassed to ask me to leave. It was not for me and never was. If you're going to make a movie about your fanfic fairy tale story (once upon a time as it were) in which
the Manson Family meets a hideously gruesome end at the hands of Brad Pitt saving the lives of Sharon Tate and her friends
we don't need to spend two hours and forty-five minutes getting there. There were so many scenes where the clock was ticking and nothing was happening. There was no sense of urgency in the film making and no tension to the narrative.

On a completely different note this is Quentin Tarantino with the foot of a girl in his mouth. The girl that limb belongs to doesn't look very old.

He sucks feet in From Dusk till Dawn. This movie has multiple shots of Margo Robbie's dirty bare feet right in the camera. It also has multiple shots of Margaret Qualley (portraying a girl of not legal age) sticking her dirty feet in the camera as well. It didn't impair what enjoyment out of the film that I did get but I couldn't help but notice his fetish on display front and center.

I totally agree with everything. Not only was there no sense of urgency, there was a whole "six months later" thing from when he went to Italy. Brad Pitt was the only good thing in the movie, and when he went to the ranch it was absolutely fantastic. Ending was so great. I'm glad they only showed Manson for like six seconds in the movie and didn't give him any more screentime or worship. Leonardo Dicaprio was great too, but I was completely bored with his whole journey. Margot Robbie was just eyecandy I guess?

I'd give this a 3-5/10. It was competently made, beautiful shot, but boring as fuck. I will never see this movie again. When my Plex downloads it I may put the end scene on again, but that's it.

Was planning on seeing this over the weekend as it's just released here. I don't know if I want to sit in a cinema for 2.5 hours waiting for something to happen.

Sounds pretty crappy overall.

That's exactly what happens. You watch hours of story line that really has no impact upon anything. There's about 20 minutes of shit that has to do with the Manson family that leads up to the end. The other relevant stuff is seeing how Brad Pitts character is a badass. But besides that, the rest of the movie is boring as fuck. I remember watching one scene with Leo, and like I enjoyed watching him, but the scene was pointless, and I was so bored and annoyed.

I haven't liked a Tarantino movie since Kill Bill 2, so I'm going to just skip this one based on the feedback. I think he's easily the most overrated filmmaker in the business.

I can get on board with Tarantino being overrated, but I don't think any of his movies(I have not seen this one) are bad. They range from awesome to good. M. Knight has had some real bad ones.

huh didn't watch all the RLM but it looks like they really liked it which is surprising, i can never really predict what they think. I really thought they'd hate the first 2 hours.

If you're a movie aficionado/movie maker/actor/film buff type I think there's a lot to like about it. I just wasn't that jazzed about hanging around on a TV set with Rick Dalton as he films an episode of Gunsmoke or whatever.

Yeah, I don't think that any of then are bad. He is talented without question, but the annoying things he does kills it for me. Some truly great stuff surrounded by so much creative masturbation.
