Fuck me, got a good HC group ended up going until 3am or so and fucked my sleep schedule for work Monday. Almost hit 17 but last pull went wrong and got AoE nuked for 300ish putting both healers into the purple club. Down hill from there, one corpse recovery later it is now almost 4am and over 100 hrs played. Is this the year 2000?
Good times but truly

What's everyone thinking about Pantheon so far? I'm on the fence about getting it. I want to re-live the EQ days, but I'm afraid I'll be disappointed.

You could read the past few pages. People seem to like it and that it evokes the glory days of EQ.

For me personally, I'm just not into it. I don't have a tight knit group of friends to do it with and so all I can see is how I'd rather be playing a dozen other games than something so firmly planted in the past and without (for me) the immersiveness that single player games bring. If you're actually into the concept of MMOs and liked classic era EQ, I don't see why you wouldn't give it a shot.

The funny part is anyone who was even vaguely paying attention for the last 6-12 months would have seen it shaping up like this but all these people who actually like it now would have rather memed. Though, I guess I am surprised just how many here genuinely do see to want that classic EQ and it wasn't just rose colored glasses.

Seems like the big question will be what kind of content release cadence they can accomplish and how that will affect interest when "launch" is 2+ years away.

I have only logged in a few times so I don’t burn out and go hard on a beta. But I enjoy it a lot so far. Does remind me a lot of early EQ. Game looks a lot better than I thought it would. Once they add some things like the god damn map it will be a lot better. Navigating the world is too complicated.

So for those of you that are new and unfamiliar with how Pantheons sharding works - its not like your typical sharding. Aveous 0 is just a shard of Aveous 1 - both overlap with your character, the guild etc. BUT - they are NOT connected to each other in a way that will let you see who is on the other shard, or talk to them, etc.

So sometimes the guild will look sort of empty, but in reality - like right now. Theres a handful of us on Aveous 0 because its easier to group on that shard in the early mornings since the older of the two "shards." Hope this makes sense.

OR BASICALLY - if you're trying to find people, get an invite to the guild, etc. Swap shards. Im typically on my Cleric, Titusraco.

It's much more likely that anyone competent on the team leaves to a real studio instead, should this get enough notoriety/clout.

But at 4k concurrent....doubtful.
I will play it to 40 on SMN for sure. See what there is to see. This is probably going to be stuck in EA forever until they run out of $$$ to keep the server gerbils fed.

For people who have played this and M&M a good amount, which is more fun and which looks more promising? Its nice knowing M&M has an official launch date.

My guess is people here will exhaust the current content within a month and then be disappointed at the pace of development. They launched EA right in time for the holidays so I am betting they aren’t even beginning more hiring until next week and then you have to train the new folks etc etc.

Thats probably the best assumption. Their bread and butter are the casual's that wont blow through the content at that pace, though. Plenty of people under 10, or rolling alts, etc. this weekend. Games at peak players right this moment at 5173 and they've also opened up a new server .. today? At least I think thats a new server at the bottom of the list. Was looking for boars for Utnayans quest earlier today and players are EVERYWHERE, killing EVERYTHING. Its cool and miserable at the same time, lol.

The games growing popularity has helped out Joppa's stream a lot, as well. So that may encourage him to do more development in his personal time. But he's off in the plains doing that stuff, designing the Druid etc. But I strongly feel like someone needs to be 100% focused on the new player zones. Listening and acting on the feedback thats given. Mob level ranges. Mob density. With no map, and no general direction on where to go to kill what - then the wording in quests has to be spot on. Like theres a quest that annoyed me earlier because it asked me to kill the "devilish derves" or something like that.. and its just asking you to kill like 5 Thugs. Say that, then. Say "Thugs" .. the actual name of the NPC you want me to kill. That type of shit.

I finally pitched in. Lvl 5 enc.

I'm viewing it more as a pledge with benefits (24/7 access). Expectations remain low but I'm rooting for it.

Well shit, I guess I'm obligated to try, still have great early EQ memories not knowing a fucking thing. What are the two or three most needed classes right now to fill out a group?

Someone else in this thread mentioned it - lots of people came into this game knowing grouping would be necessary. Lots of tanks and healers around. Most groups need an enchanter and dps.

I leveled my ranger up to level 8 today. It’s a cool class. You’ll find groups.
