Think it's more likely that the sense of scarcity/urgency was gone, so someone who was kinda waffling with pledging that much backed out

Asking for donations, and not providing a clear plan of where the money is going, what its for, etc, is one of the reason kickstarter is really shady sometimes.
You don't give to charities without knowing their fiscal records. A bank won't give a loan without business plan and collateral. Any investor sure as heck would want to see business plans, etc.

So, why would you donate to kickstarter without it? Transparency will only aid a legit donation campaign.

Other KS projects do this though (Repopulation), they provide a nice graph/layout of exactly how they thing the money is going to be allocated. Nothing like that here. Since everyone who pledged is essentially an 'investor' and not simply a random message board fanboy, you would that something like that would be important.

If it passes goal, you would hope it passes with some kind of buffer (100-200k) since I wouldn't be surprised if you got a few trolls in there who are going to pull pledges on the last day. Higher tiers are going to get this game funded, not the 45 and lower tiers since I don't think there are going to be enough backers (12-14k) to survive just on that.

It is a bad KS but I can see them reaching the goal, the way it has gone for the last 6 days. It will truck along and will undoubtedly have an end sprint too like pretty much all KS that have this kind of graph (Semi-high initial funding and enough basic interest in what is offered, no matter how vague).

Use the next 30 days to explain more about the game and give more specifics(my biggest gripe at this point);
Add a few cheapskate-tiers that are actually attractive (not like the 10-dollar one); 35 dollars, game + beta, it needs to be there;
Keep up the postings and updates;
Explain a bit about how you will handle funding after this KS is in the pocket (luckily Brad already did this by saying they will keep funding open, and look for outside funding too)
No posts anymore about being jobless, garages, needing bills to pay(erm,backed up bills too?) and that you worked for 4 months on this KS;

And then I am positive that this will fund np.

While what you are asking for would be nice in a perfect world, we don't live in a perfect world and most people are not nice.

Kickstarter has no rules about disclosure. Anyone who donates is doing so with little to no guarantees. If you don't like that then dont' donate.

I put in 20 as a thank you to Brad for past efforts more than anything else. If the game gets made then that's a bonus imo.

Despite the tons of bugs associated with the raiding aspect(Furor's best rants came from that), Planes of Power was actually an awesome expansion and I believe the pinnacle of EQ. There are many expansions that you could complain about for EQ. PoP is not one of them though.

Looks like over the last 4 days (Throwing out the first 2) we are settling in around a 150 backer per day avg.

Will need a $120-$130 per pledge average at that rate to hit the 800k.

Of course these are all preliminary... just me and my OCD kicking in.

i actually enjoyed PoP as well (although i don't think it was the pinnacle of EQ). of all the expansions, i'd put it third, behind SoV (1st) and ROK (2nd). my love of EQ kind of waned when SoL came out (this is when a lot of my guild quit as well), but interest definitely picked back up again when PoP came out (although the flagging part of the game was a bad idea and a huge pain in the ass, especially trying to get newer guild members back flagged).

It's ironic that WoW has mostly followed the same path, with the 3rd expansion (Wrath) being the best, although I'd put vanilla over BC. I agree that Luclin started the downward trend, PoP merely stemmed the tide for awhile. In the grand scheme of things, the pinnacle of EQ probably only lasted 3 years (1999-2002).

I think you are in the minority on this, must would say vanilla and bc then wrath as far as the best goes for wow.

EQ really was great in it's first few years as was vanilla WoW. SoL was just like BC to me. Some good parts but the focus on different worlds and some new elements were just blah. WotLK and PoP helped me have a short revival in both games but I was very happy to kill Arthas and end my time in WoW and also very happy to see EQ2 and WoW when they released.
