you're not alone. as much as i want this game to succeed, i'm still on the fence about giving money. as gamers, we support the industry by purchasing finished products. it shouldn't be our job to foot the bill to create the game. i wouldn't give a car company money for a car that wasn't built, nor would i pay $300 for a dinner before it was served.
Normally I would agree. The thing is, a lot of us have asked numerous developers of any new MMO that was coming out, not to make it easy. We all gave input to what we wanted, and none of them listened. I wonder how many emails Brad has gotten over the years to bring back the style of playing we had in EQ?
-Brad "Aradune Mithara" McQuaid"Hello,
I get a lot of emails every day from people I?ve never met. With few exceptions, they all share the same theme and message: take today?s tech, take what you?ve learned (good and bad, from your successes and failures), and bring us a new MMO that gives us the same feeling and memories your earlier games did. I try to answer them all, thanking the person for the email, and also letting them know that I agree with where they?re coming from.
Finally, however, I can announce that I?m done just listening. But I?m going to need your help too. Yes, all of you who?ve emailed, tweeted, posted, and more? the time has come to build this dream we?ve shared."
So, he listened, and it least this is a start of getting it going. Hopefully there are other avenues for funding the game later. I myself am backing it. No one out there is making my game right now, but him and the Visionary Realms team.
