i don't have kids myself, but i started dating a girl that has two kids.... an 8yo girl and a boy that just turned 2. the girl isn't as much fun (though we have had some fun times playing Plants vs. Zombies together), but i have legitimately been having a blast hanging out with this 2yo. he's maybe mimicking me more than i'm comfortable with... i'm the only male he's had in his life since his dad took off 7 months ago.... and 7 months is a pretty long time when you've just turned 2.

his favorite thing is to listen to me play metal really loudly on my electric guitar. "i wan' 'tar" is probably one of the most common things he says when i'm around.

his mom even got him a little half sized First Act guitar for his birthday. all the kid can do is strum, of course, so i put it in open D tuning so that it at least sounds a little like music.

So question for the forum bros... my 2yo could care less about time out. We have tried making him face the wall and sit on the stairs. We talk to h imm about what he did wrong and make sure he isn't playing with anything but he is too much like me he just hums to himself or goes off in his imagination till the time out is over with seemingly no effect. Not really sure what to do for diciplin at this point main issues is throwing toys and climbing on/jumping on people when they tell him no.. time out comes if he doesn't listen to commands.

A smack on the butt and an assertive, "No." It's not the pain that hurts him it's the disapproval. The smack on the butt is just to get his attention.

Other than that, 2 yo's gonna 2 yo. Jumping on people is a problem, though. And it's kinda like a puppy dog, you gotta catch him in the act. As you've noticed, rubbing his nose in it doesn't do very much.

Yeah he has gotten a couple swats usually after time out didn't work and he did something that hurt someone usually his brother. it isn't hard but it works some, like you said more the disapprova,l but I don't want that to be the only thing we have to go to for results, I was hoping to save spankings for things that really deserve it.

Man Bubba is definitely going through some shit right now. He's sleeping like he's 5 weeks instead of 5 months at night. In bed at 7, up at 12, screamed till 2, up again at 5, screamed some more. 6 oz when he got up at 12 then he inhaled 8 oz over 20 minutes this morning at 5. He's normally quite content with 4 oz. All this week his night time sleeping has been off. Sleeping in really short stretches through the night. I haven't been able to get any restful sleep. Tired doesn't even begin to describe what I am. I might start seeing flying pink elephants soon.

Last night was totally not awesome. I guess he decided since mom was at work he was gonna be a badass.

Went to bed from 9pm-12am then woke up and wouldn't go back to bed until 3am when she got home. I had to get up at 6, so it sufficiently sucked the life out of me. He just was fighting the sleep all night, rustling around on me. He'd fall asleep in my arms, then when I went to lay him down he'd wake up FUCKIN PISSED OFF. Oh well, I'll live.

I'm not sure what his problem was, but I think she said he took an extra nap during the day (thanks mom).
