We shit canned the diaper genie for ziploc bags. I can buy them at the wholesale club dirt cheap and they lock in the smell without any issues. Size 5 diapers right now and they fit. Kid can shit.

My advice for new parents is:

Its easy when they are new born and until they get mobile. Enjoy it. Every stage has its ups and downs but parenthood is fucking awesome assuming you don't phone it in or have a child with serious issues. As they get older they will want more of your time and deserve it. Spend time with your kid.

What ever you do, do it consistently.

Don't obsess over what you read on the internet.

Don't obsess over things. Homo-sapiens have been around for 200k+ years having babies and being parents and got by just fine with next to nothing.

Here's the deal with a stroller vs. carrying the kid (in your arms/strapped to you/whatever)

The stroller isn't just about mobility. It's also a place to sleep peacefully and to eat snacks & drink milk. If we're going to be somewhere for more than an hour or so we definitely take the stroller. It has a tray on the front with a cupholder and a little platform for food/crackers/whatever. Keeps the kid busy and not screaming at us. Kids are hungry CONSTANTLY. You'll appreciate being able to give the kid a box of raisins or a pack of goldfish crackers and they're occupied for a while. Your kid won't be able to drink a bottle of water or milk while bouncing around being carried when on the move.

The sleeping is also huge, your kid won't be able to sleep too well while bouncing around on your back or strapped to you in whatever manner you plan on doing that. You see little tiny infants sleeping anywhere, because they will, but once your kid is 1+, they're a little more picky about how & when they sleep. A stroller is ideal for that when you're out & about.

We went with a BOB stroller, because of the large, rubber wheels(smoother ride, easy to inflate just like a bike tire) and all BOB stuff is compatible/interchangeable with Britax carseats and accessories.

Our Britax infant carseat would easily detach and latch into the BoB stroller, and now that our kid is 2 we just use the stroller normally.

We have this stroller, and it's great. Works well whether you are on pavement or not. Don't get anything with shitty little plastic wheels. They're bumpy as fuck and don't handle being off of pavement well at all.

Yeah strollers are really nice until they are walking. We used our a lot until she walked and then less so. Now that she just turned 2 and for the previous 3 or 4 months we haven't used the stroller once. I'd probably only bring it when we go to Disney or something at this point but the earlier years it was clutch. If for nothing more than to mule all the shit you carry and the kid.

Wait, so you get about a year out of the infant car seats? Shit, I figured that was a 5 or 6 month thing. I might get that one all you guys are talking about then. I wish they made adult sized ones so I could sit in it, and test it, but whatever.

And yeah, I am ready for the little bastard. But, honestly, for me, the best part will be when he can talk and shit in the pot. Then I have a running mate to run around with. Lol. So I am ready for him to hit those terrible 3s, we are going to run amok together.

Oh, here is the thing I was talking about:

We don't bother with the stroller anymore with our 2 year old if we're just going shopping or something, but if we're going to the zoo, or going for a walk to a park, basically anything that is going to be outdoors and for multiple hours, we definitely bring the stroller. The kid starts out wanting to walk on their own, but always ends up in the stroller by the end of the day, tired and hungry.

I'd only do a backpack vs a stroller if you are in a predominantly urban environment and using a lot of trains/subways/busses to get around. Strollers are a pain in the ass when navigating those types of transportation. In pretty much every other scenario I could possibly imagine, a stroller would be preferable.

Yeah we went with Graci's, cheaper but not "cheap", get good reviews and are really durable. We have a Graco infant seat that literally lasted us through three children.

We take the double stroller most places even though the two year old doesn't sit in it much and alot of the time we could get away with the single stroller for the 5mo old... but for times when he is exploring and running around kinda crazy and we need to get some where on time. or when we are eating I need him to sit still or trying to take care of both it is awesome to have handy. Also what the hell stroller makers not everyone is 5'1" ... I'm 6'4" and have yet to find a resonably priced stroller that doesn't have me hunched over and kicking the bottom, Im thinking of bulding an extension out of either pvc or a bike handlebar.

A stroller is awesome when shopping, can put the kid in and let him go to sleep. Saturday night, we went to a cousin's wedding, took the stroller to the reception and the kid fell asleep in it. It an uppababy cruz stroller.

For a car sear, we started with the chicco keyfit 30. Was nice that you could keep the kid in the seat and take him in and out of the car and we got the caddy with that car seat. The next car seat we bought was the nextfit by chicco. Its nice because it has a removeable cover that can be washed and it suppose to fit from newborn up until the kid is ready for a booster seat. Honestly if that nextfit had been out when we were shopping for car seats, we probably would have went with that one.

We used the car seats that clicked in and out of a base in the car, and then into a stroller. The stroller could also be used when the kids got bigger and didn't need the rear-facing car seat any more. It was good enough, but for running, or a long day in a stroller, there is absolutely no better stroller than the bob strollers. We had one like this:

BOB Sport Utility Sport Utility Stroller - Orange - Free Shipping

We had a single and a double (side by side) stroller. They were awesome.

We have the same exact setup as Arative. Started keyfit30 and just bought a Nextfit. Both are great seats.
We got the NextFit as well now that we've outgrown the infant seat.

The NextFit can technically be used with a newborn, but it is extremely bulky and you can't pop it in-and-out of the car to carry it around. Other than switching it from car-to-car, once you put the NextFit into the car it stays there. But that is an option if you only wanted to buy a single car seat, but I would not recommend going that route for a newborn as having the infant seat offers much more convenience that is well worth the price.

Also, your anatomy is so much different than that of a newborn, how you felt in the car seat would have no correlation to how the kid felt. I'll tell you that my kid pretty much instantly passed out in the KeyFit30, so she must have been pretty damn cozy in that thing.

My grandmother can't drive anymore so she gave us her mini van. We put the Nextfit in there and kept the Keyfit30 in our car. The Nextfit looks comfy as fuck and I was my computer chair was an adult sized Nextfit.

And yeah our little guy could be fussing up a storm but soon as he's strapped in and the car starts to roll BOOM he is out. And it's even quicker in the Nextfit compared to the Keyfit30.

The problem we're having is the dude is growing way too fast. He came out in very small and every check-up the doctor say he's growing like crazy, think he went from 10th percentile to 65th percentile in the short amount of time he's been alive.

He's already growing out of 6M clothes and he's not even 5M yet. He's also in a tight-squeeze in the car seat which is troubling. If he takes after me he'll be huge.

Cloths labels are useless and vary greatly. At 12 months you'll be in 18 or 24 month cloths. Always ask for or buy big. Grats on the little guy growing like a weed. They grow like crazy the first year.

When they don't it's called failure to thrive and it's a horrendous thing.

haha Noodlebaby gonna be a big boy! We're in the same boat. This kids nick name isn't Bubba for no reason. We've got some 6m shirts that are a struggle to get on his cranium. And he's already standing up from laying down on his own strength if you give him 2 fingers to pull up on. Slow the fuck down bro. I ain't ready for this yet!

We took him to a restaurant to meet friends yesterday and the whole time he just wanted to stand, so I had him standing in the booth and supporting himself with his arms on the table. He looked so much bigger than what he is, it made me appreciate all the growth he's had since being a newborn.

He was slapping the table with one hand and screaming, it was like he was yelling at a bartender to give him a shot.

Fatherhood is a crazy experience bros. Just taking it all in everyday.
