Son got hand foot mouths disease. It's been miserable. He's nearly over it and baby sister starts showing spots. Here we go again...

Yeah that disease is why I am still such a Nazi about sharing drinks, my girls must think I am crazy but we had that shit running cycles through our house for like 2 months.

I let my 5 and 6 year Olds watch Edward Scissorhands tonight, they were into it until the end. Then when Edward pushes the dude out the window they lectured me for letting them watch an inappropriate movie.

lol. my niece has been doing this to me since she was about that age -- she's almost 12 now. i still maintain that if they're mature enough to understand why it might be inappropriate, then they're also probably mature enough to watch it. =p

my sister has that girl brainwashed, i can't even get her to sneak in a tame Futurama episode with me without her feeling incredibly guilty.

"Self Soothing"

1st kid it did not work, she would go HOURS screaming so we didn't carry on that method. the 2nd however got the idea and only hit about 1.5 hours then less and less and less and was fine to the point where if she cried for more than 5min or so we knew she actually needed something. So the "idea" of self soothing worked for one and not the other.. but yeah- lack of sleep is why my wife wants no 3rd.

This teething stuff is BULLSHIT

Kid is getting no sleep at all (and us, either).

Just got weighed and he's 17 pounds, so he's moving along pretty nicely. My wife said when she was 6 she was only 30 pounds, I don't even know if that's real

Son's first tooth just broke through this weekend. Little dude is wide awake at 2-3am last night just fucking around. He cries if we're not there, but once we come in he just wants to chill.

G'damnit.

I hope our first tooth isn't a month long ordeal like your kids. He's been screaming at night now and only sleeping in 1-2 hour chunks. They said we could use ibuprofen now at least. I feel like it's ready to break but just not there.

Also my kid has no fuckin clue how to use a teether, so he's just in pain nonstop. He also doesn't know how to use a pacifier. I mean I guess it's good we won't have to ween him off one..

Man, I feel really lucky, my kid is working on his 5th tooth and he's still been sleeping through the night. He's gotten a lot fussier though at times but nothing like what you guys are describing.

Same here, feel really lucky. My daughter has 8 teeth now and the worst we had were a few restless nights. And by restless I mean she might have woken up and moaned for 5-10 minutes before falling back asleep like once a week.

My daughter stopped using a pacifier on her own well before teething. She would use those refrigerated teether thingies a little bit, but not much. Wish I had some super secret trick or something for you bros to try but we didn't do anything special for teething.

I know, on the weekdays waking up my 5 year olds in the morning around 6amish is like waking the dead but come dawn on the weekends they are in my bed jumping on me.

My kid is typically up by 7:00am on the weekends too, but occasionally randomly sleeps until 9:00am or later.

This weekend he didn't get to bed until 5:30AM and I thought for sure he'd be out all day. Nope, woke right up at 7:00am happy to be alive, like the previous night never happened. But it did guys.. it did happen.

My 12 year old I have to drag out of bed to go to school, literally he acts like he's dead. (No electronics in the morning before school). He's up at 6am on saturday to go play whatever with his friends.

Don't forget this thread years from now, Noodle. It will be useful in guilt-tripping the fuck out of your teenage son when he mouths off to you.

When theyre teething it's like "who's fucking kid is this?"

Just gotta keep reminding yourself that it's temporary. And if you're fine with it... Drug em up with baby ibuprofen!!

I'm always amazed at how different my two kids are.

Seven year old daughter. Very sensitive. Cries over nothing. Picky eater.

Three year old son. Tough as nails. Little troublemaker. Eats everything.

Da fuck, nature?
