Our kiddo just got approved for the RSV shot/vaccination, since he was premature. 1 shot a month for 5 months, he's going to love that, lol.

$50 co-pay per shot is a hell of a lot better than the $2000 per shot that our pediatrician told us it cost if you do it out of pocket(that wasn't going to happen, that's goddamned ridiculous). I still don't overly enjoy paying $250 for it total, but if it keeps him healthy it's worth it. RSV can be some serious stuff.

In the city in which I live there is a clinic downtown where anyone can take their kids for vaccinations. The cost is 8$ per visit, and they know exactly what vaccinations need to happen and at what age and so forth. Most cities larger than about 50,000 people will probably have a clinic of this sort.

RSV probably isn't covered under an $8/visit at the city clinic, it's not a normal vaccination that babies get.

And even with our insurance coverage for RSV ($40 copay I think), our Pediatrician's office went through a lot of difficulty getting the company to send the vaccines. Everything the first few months of their lives was not easy.

My wife went through hell with the insurance company for everything because everyone was retarded. Twins is some goddamn mystical entity for these dumb motherfuckers. When one of our girls (B) was transferred to a different hospital the day after she was born, she mistakenly was identified as our other baby (A), which at that point in time in the system they were only known as Lastname/Twin Baby Girl A and Lastname/Twin Baby Girl B. Then the hospital lied about us not needing to fill out insurance paperwork at the other hospital, "Oh it will just carry over." Clusterfuck. Then between the two, even when they were both back in the same hospital with their real names, things were still fucked up. Months later, my wife had to 4-way conference call the Insurance company and the two hospitals' billing departments and just sit there quiet on the phone while they figured out wtf happened for like 3 hours.

Between my wife's awesome medical coverage (she delivered at the hospital she works at, and if you're an employee with the right health plan, everything done there is covered 100%...it's almost like living in any other first world country!) we weren't supposed to pay anything. Just to make sure because medical motherfuckers always try to fuck you over, our girls also qualified for institutional medicaid (also another clusterfuck), which means everything is covered 100% again. We are still getting a bill for almost $500 from one idiot doctor and it's over a year later.

But our girls are doing great. They've graduated to whole milk (no more $600/month preemie formula HOLY WTF) and eat everything. They are sleeping better at night and aren't using their Rocknplay's anymore. They are meeting all the milestones at or ahead of time and will be walking soon. People always comment how well behaved they are out in public. They also ask if they're twins and then ask how do we tell them apart...uhh, they don't look the same? Are you looking at my children? You see how they don't look the same? "Oh is one a boy?" Yes, one is a boy, we dress him in pink and pierced his ears because he told us he's gay and that's what he prefers. The fuck is wrong with people? People totally turn off their brains when they see we have twins.

One Saturday I was at Costco with our girls and our Brazilian Au Pair. This nosy damn lady comes over and starts melting "Oh my gosh they are sooooo cute, how do you tell them apart?" o_O "Wow, two girls?"
confused.png
Then she starts looking at our Au Pair and looks at me (white guy) and looks at the girls "Wow they, uhhh..." and does the ethnicity survey again. "They don't really look like their mother do they?" Yes, stranger lady, they do, this woman here however is not their mother, BYE. You should hear my wife tell the story about the jew lady at Wegman's who lost her goddamn mind and started calling out to the other shoppers to come look at the beautiful babies.

4 months already? I thought my kid was older than yours (July 10). Her appointment isn't until next Thursday. Nurse said something about Hep shots needing to be spaced out 30/60 days and not having her 4 month appointment until it was 61 days after her 2 month.
no clue.

if its one thing I've learned - opinions vary greatly from doc to doc - even within my own practice.

He's 16 weeks today though (that whole weeks vs months thing etc).

yeah I think my son may have had that - its responsible for something like 70% of bronchiolitis and that's definitely what he had with virus number 3.

or he had strep.

fuck if I know what's going on anymore with my kid.

We had our well visit today and it went pretty good. Docs happy with kiddo's growth and we're starting solids tomorrow (mangoes) - will see how it goes. He's been asleep since about 4:45pm est after I fed him post shots. we'll see how tonight goes.

I was always under the impression that the general consensus was no fruits until 1 year of age at least? You don't want the kid getting used to that sweet sugar right off the bat or they will despise vegetables down the road. Starting with fruits is like giving a kid dessert, and then asking them to eat their meal afterwards.

No fruits until after a year? Dude that seems to be taking it way too far imo. We tried to mix it up, veggies and fruits alternated with meat introduced just a little later. But we didn't have a problem with our kids eating veggies until they became hard headed toddlers, and that is just a power thing and has nothing to do with taste.

My wife and 11 month old son share a banana every night for his dinner, and he still loves avacado, cucumbers, etc. /shrug

If the kid is like me we will have issues with fruits heh. My mom never had issues with veggies with me or my sister. And we weren't a droWn it in cheese sauce household either.

Doc just said fruis and veggies. No magic order.

My son is starting to feel better, however he got me sick and mine turned into strep.

Now when I talk to him he mimics my voice and laughs about it.... The little bastard.

very true. We must be on a 4 months not 16 weeks schedule or something. Who knows.

You really have to be careful about the correct times for shot though. It may change from doctor to doctor, but states have regulations. My 6 year old daughter just brought home a notice from school saying she would need to get a 4th dose of Hep B because her 3rd dost was given too early, otherwise she would not be able to return to school. I checked with her pediatrician and sure enough, it was one day early. She had a different doctor though as a baby before we moved to WA so yeah... it sucked.

That must be why they told is not to come for her four month appointment until 61 days after her two month.

Hmm. Maybe va is just more relaxed about it.

I will look into it but the above doesn't suggest that level of rigidity.

Vaccination being void by shooting it one day off the limit? That shit is made up by the paper pushers.

They didn't say exactly 1 day, just couldn't be less than 60, which in some respects is the same thing.

Yeah i get that, but was mainly commenting on the 6 year old daugter who got sent home, cause vaccination was 1 day early, i doubt thse fuckers know how vaccination works actually.
Was it my kid i prolly would have lost it, and this comes from a person who promotes and praises vaccination, since i had the pleasure of contracting measels... twice.

Had our 6-month checkup & shots/immunizations yesterday. Kid has been cranky for 2 weeks now off and on due to teething. Only 1 tooth is completely through, and we kinda figured that the bottom tooth next to that one was probably coming next, since the kid is still cranky. Well, the doctor looked closely at his upper and lower gums. There are 6 more teeth somewhat visible under the gums(we didn't even think to look at the top gums closely, had always heard the 2 bottom teeth come first) 2 bottom front, 2 top front, and 2 top canines.

Damn kid is going to have a full set of teeth by the time he's 1 at this rate. No wonder he's pissed.

Here's the little poop factory with his new favorite pacifier

I asked about the spacing of the shots at our appointment yesterday and they told me it was a CDC regulation (or recommendation, but school districts take it seriously enough) and that the shots are proven to be at their most effective when spaced out that way.

Yeah i know they need to be spaced apart for max effectiveness, but as said its recommendations.
Just tell the district paper pushers you were on time due to daylight saving switches and stuff or the next generation of parents will have to stop vaccination time intervalls with a stopwatch to not miss the millisecond accuarte timeframe.
Silly shit beeing silly.
