At what point were you guys ok with your babies sleeping on their stomach?

Our kid can't crawl yet, but he rolls with ease in every direction, and will even roll completely across a room, so getting stuck on his stomach isn't an issue.

My wife still freaks out everytime she see's him on his stomach on the baby monitor and goes in to roll him over to his back. I say he's fine at this point since he can roll at will. There's obviously no blankets or bumper pads or anything else in his crib other than him.
my kid now rolls over on his stomach while swaddled.

I would freak if I didn't have a snuza. But since I do, I don't. If he stops breathing I will know almost immediately.

I can't even imagine the anxiety i would have if i didn't have it.

Well, more so than already. I am currently in the docs office waiting to talk about PPA or just aggravation of an already existing undiagnosed anxiety disorder. or maybe neither.

Putting kids on their back constantly has caused a dramatic increase in plagiocephaly which is why our daughter has to go get a helmet next week.

Was like 6 months of back sleeping then she would only nap on her stomach eventually we stopped trying because she would roll like a fucking loose tire going down hill until she found what looked to be the most uncomfortable position ever before she passed out for the night. First time she did sleep the entire night did have both of us jumping out of bed when we saw the time.

Jesus Christ. 6 months off for having a kid as a guy? I can see it if your wife died in childbirth or something, but if she's already at home, what in the hell do you want to sit around for 6 months for? I don't have kids, but I can't imagine wanting to take off much more than a couple weeks unless there were some sort of medical problems or something. I had a friend that took 6 weeks off when his son was born, but all he did was play Everquest the whole time and it had very little to do with actually taking care of the baby who was asleep most of the time anyway.

I've tried to read some 'father-centric' baby/early parenting books that claim studies show there are many benefits (better grades, less social issues, etc.) to a child down the road if a father is aroundANDan equal participant in the parenting early on in an infants life.

Granted, for various reasons/stigmas/beliefs it is not always possible for a father to be an equal participant, but if afforded the opportunity for a good chunk of time off to spend with a newborn, I think a new father should take advantage of it.

Yeah, what if you stagger it? Wife is home six months, then has to go back to work, but the father could be home for the next six months, meaning a parent is home for the first full year. Seems like a fine idea to me.

My husband works from home - and on a project which is more deliverable based (not butt in seat). He also got 3 weeks paternity leave.

Getting to spend lots of time as a new family unit was fucking awesome.

There might be some jackholes that take 6 weeks and just play EQ. But there are others that will 100% capitalize on that opportunity to hang out with their new kid.

I took a month off when my daughter was six weeks old and my wife had to go back to work... I found being home alone with a six week old very challenging and fulfilling and really pleasurable. Was I looking forward to going back to work after that month off? Probably. But I think it made me appreciate and understand not only parenthood but my own daughter more.

I played EQ while holding my newborn and feeding him back in 2001. While the wife was catching up on Zs. Now were gamer bros.

Who the hell has time with a newborn to fuck around? I took two weeks with each kid and every time I was busy the entire time adjusting to the new situation and just trying to get shit done.
