I agree with this to an extent, but there's still almost 450,000 people playing this thing just on steam alone, myself included almost a week later. The peak was 578k. That's not a gigantic drop off, given the radical change in direction the game took from poe1. Personally, I find the game exceptionally fun and I really love things like hitting a deli mirror and NOT needing to rush the entire map, etc.

There's a shitload of things they need to fix up but I feel this is what EA is all about. But the slower gameplay, I like a LOT more than I thought I would. WASD also is going to have to be implemented into poe1. I can't see myself ever playing click to move ever again.
Most of the complaints are just the autism leaking out imo, sudden changes trigger them.

Like we are expected to belive that Cast on Freeze Comet is the only viable Sorc build, but neither that or Frost Wall work on the last boss. I had to hard cast Comet and it was fine.

I haven't seen any slower gameplay. My character sure as shit is much slower but everything else is still fast

Dunno about that. I have multiple thousands of hours in that game over the years and I've still never SSF enough high runes to make the top rune words. The D2 economy is founded on duping and botting.

If they dont want people to zoom around thats fine and solved really with the removal of quicksilver and dash's its not really what I mean though. Like take a look at Shout Warrior Steelmage is doing, its a pretty simple build that is easy enough to get online and doesn't take a pile of gear and can do maps at an okay speed and kill rares and bosses but not instantly. A person shouldn't have to see that build and wonder if they should play it cause it will be nerfed since it goes "against GGG design philosophy" where its not using an entire skill bar to have to be piano'd to kill everything.

Is the build going to be killing pinnacle bosses quickly and easily? Not a chance. Is it zooming around the map at turbo speed clearing shit in 30 seconds? Nope. Its just a chill build that cna do content, so why shouldn't it exist.

If they finally removed flask pianoing and replaced it with skill pianoing forget it.

Also steam players metrics are whatever to me, its the new hotness so everyone is playing it and good for GG for making some bucks but its not the end all. Hell Lost Ark had over a million players 3 months into the game then the "Average Joes" hit end game say its a giant clusterfuck of gatekeeping, difficulty and frustration. Now it averages 20k players.

The average player has not hit maps STILL, they are trying out shit and doing campaign. Once the actual game starts and they see the actual difficulty this game can present it will be exodus time except for people who know what GGG is about.
I largely agree with this. Im playing an archer that uses one skill primarily. There's nothing to combo with so I don't bother. Would I prefer I had combos? Probably not really unless I could do significantly more damage to make the added complexity worth it.

What I like is that my character has, as I've leveled, gone from slightly struggling to slightly powerful based on gear and passives. What I don't like is that the passive tree feels really weak, none of the orange passives offer anything and I have no uniques that do anything substantial to build around.

Huh? Cast on Freeze Comet was stronger against Doryani's gigantic robot model than basically anything else in the game because of how big the model was and how easy it was to perma freeze him. And that build is actually STRONGER now against bosses, it just happens to basically be non functional for normal clear because of the energy magnitude change they made.

I'm primarily playing monk and I really enjoy the combos. Its a good change of pace from the poe right click to victory. I'm sure other classes could be easier and gayer, but monk as it is really feels like some sort of merger of league of legends play-style with PoE-like game play. Plus I really don't feel like I'm "pianoing", cause timing your skills is important for maximum effect/avoiding damage. I really feel like that was the experience they were aiming for when making this game too.

I've found that if a pair of boots has no movement speed, I automatically discount them. Finding a 15% movement speed boots even with craptacular stats increased my survivability 10 fold. I think I'm mid 40s now and still in lvl 12 boots or so, and unless something has movement speed on them...they won't be upgraded.
It's the new: No life, it's trash. No movespeed, it's trash.

Its because he doesn't understand how it worked or what changed, it was a stupid change that makes me wonder what cast on ailment builds are for at all. IF anything the nerf should have done the complete opposite.

GGG shouldn't be too surprised every league there are a couple of builds that are somewhat better due to the changes and much more popular, kind of like bleed builds in settlers. Now a number of people are doing the same thing all over.

Okay, so I went ahead and made a ranger. I don't understand why the comet build was nerfed so bad, because this is absolutely ridiculous. Now, part of that is probably because my gear is slightly twinked, but I'm absolutely tearing through packs and bosses in a way my sorceress never even came close to.

I'd be lying if I wasn't concerned about this one getting nerfed to hell next.

To add, I was like maybe I'll go farm that witch in act 4 for some exalts or something. I struggled massively on the white mobs just from the portal to the witch. The witch boss itself though? Absolutely shit on it.

It's absolutely baffling.

Well I think trigger skills have a place in a limited way if they are implemented properly and don't go infinite. Obviously the single support gem in theory limits some of this. So skill 1 does something after 5 hits -> triggers skill 2, at the cost of one support gem seems fine. Skill 1 causes itself to cast over and over at one support gem, is obviously not what they want.

In regards to ranger...

I saw that most of the leagues fast leveler were mostly Rangers. Looking further into it, they all mostly went with the same build, same ascended class, all just used lightning arrow.

I think it will get adjusted. I'm not sure it's their intention that it seems a handful of classes main attack is all obtained in the first 15 mins of the game.

At mid 40s on merc, my best attack is lvl 3 grenade. People in their 70s and 80s are using a lvl 3 basic attack on ranger ad well.

I foresee a bunch of balancing and reworking of the class skills.

I think they fucked up by not taking into account the spell that could be triggered. Comet triggered just the same as a measly ice nova. Instead of adjusting the energy from mobs, they should scale energy based on the magnitude of the spell.

So here's the problem with that. Look at the damage on all these skills (lvl 52 stormweaver). Keep in mind that Frost Bomb is a cast on the ground spell that doesn't explode for like 5 seconds, so actually targeting packs of mobs with it is almost impossible, and you can only put one down.

I would not recommend relying on this build, whatever they do to handle this situation will likely destroy it.
