yeah, there's just so many odd, 2 steps back choices that makes it so strange. crafting bench. great addition. sure it was a bit tacked on. what do they do? remove it entirely.

look at this vid of Jonathan explaining why sorc and witch have different starting nodes. "so new players don't make the wrong decision like a witch choosing elemental damage"

what even the fuck? that is so counter to the open ended design of the skill system and passive tree. someone on the team, presumably Jonathan? want's preset classes. ascendancies, this, the new gem system which pretends there is preset classes.

ggg considers elemental witches, and summoner sorceress's "wrong".

The more I hear this guy speak the more I'm worried he's gonna be an issue. There was a 4chan thread posted about him with a guy who said he was a long time dev there and shitting on this guy. It was before they went EA and in order to prove it he called the supporter packs. Now of course this doesn't mean shit but you can make your own judgements based on these kinds of videos.

Easy solution is free respec in the passive tree. That way choice matters AND players can experiment. Fucking novel.

I think for me the biggest criticism is, when I’d die during act 1-3 (didn’t die at all in cruel really), like a FROM game, I’d want to push through until I mastered the challenge. When I die in maps, I log out without even thinking about it to play Marvel Rivals. The design of the game and how you ”win” is completely at odds with itself.

I dont understand how anyone doesnt have more than enough gold to respec. I'm sitting on one million gold atm and I respec 6-12 points quite often to try something out. Fucks sake I think some people just want to play a one button, I Win, game.

They adjusted it within the first week.

On top of that, I imagine even with the old rates, you'd have more than enough once you got into mapping. The problem is, most people weren't in maps, they were nerfing builds, and the campaign gave you shit money so it actually was way too expensive.

I'd say they jumped the gun on changing the respec cost because in reality maps provide so much money and there's nothing to use it on unless you like sitting there gambling.

Well, the conversation was about witches taking elemental nodes and how Jonathan fixed that. Free respecs, at least early, address people taking nodes they regret. PoE had a similar problem where a player could get themselves in a bit of a hole and the game only offered a handful of respecs during the campaign.

So we're still crying about the first week of early access?

Well the good thing is there is a really solid base there for the game. Yeah, the end game sucks and needs to be more fleshed out, yeah they need to balance shit and add a whole bunch of shit to the game still. But it will still be exciting to see what they come up with for this game.

A lot of people see others get obsessed/lost in these games and spend all their free time grinding them. Then they themselves don't have that urge/feeling and think it's the games problem when it's more a function of the person themself. Some people just don't really, truly, actually want to play games 4+ hours every day anymore and they're trying to convince them otherwise and blame the games.

Not saying this game is perfect or anything, but in terms of an EA it's one of the better one of the literal dozens I've been in the last 10 years. I'd give it a 7.5/10 if it full released right now, but for an EA I'd say it's closer to a 9/10. There's plenty of improvements to be made and decisions to be questioned, but a lot of the time the people demanding changes are the same people who have exactly what they want in other games like Last Epoch and still don't play those games.

Last Epoch never fixed their game play after people have bitched about it for years so how well they make their crafting is irrelevant. GGG is quick to fix or change things so I'll continue to support them

While I agree with this to some degree, I do think there should be cheaper respec for people who haven’t don’t it yet. IE, make costs a small percentage of the current that ramps up until you reach what it is now. A change to let lower level players easily fix mistakes basically.

Yeah if respecs up until Act 1 cruel was free, and then the cost slowly ramped up through maps I think that would be perfect. People shouldn't be penalized for experimenting early, and I'd say most builds start to come online between Acts 2 and 3.

I don't even play as much as a lot of people here and I have well above 2 million gold, so I think endgame is fine as-is. (Respec-wise I mean, endgame is certainly not fine otherwise, lol.)

I got stuck on my first character and instead of spending time whining on the forums I rerolled into something that would get through the campaign fairly easily. Did it in the first week of the game with minimal currency or help from the guild bank. It wasn't rocket science and I don't want the game to be dumbed down even more for the perpetual mouth breathers that can't be arsed to even figure out the basic easy mode shit if they arent good enough for the hard mode shit.
