I got stuck on my first character and instead of spending time whining on the forums I rerolled into something that would get through the campaign fairly easily. Did it in the first week of the game with minimal currency or help from the guild bank. It wasn't rocket science and I don't want the game to be dumbed down even more for the perpetual mouth breathers that can't be arsed to even figure out the basic easy mode shit if they arent good enough for the hard mode shit.
Gets stuck on first character.
Rerolls
Thinks this is a good argument

Taking away respec costs doesn't dumb the game anymore then swapping gems around. Get over yourself. Nobody is saying the game is too hard. The specific complaints are the usual. Shit ssf experience, shit qol, shit trading, why did they regress <insert core design decsion> when they fixed it in poe1 (hi rarity on items).

We can have these complaints and still like the game too. GGG deserves some leeway when fixing things as they've earned it.

My experience thus far has been:

1. Using the trading site to buy gear I want (zero activation time curse boots)
2. Enjoying the enclosed environments with lots of doors that enable me to control when enemies engage
3. Dying a lot
4. Doing u-turns and noping out of optional bosses because they're just tedious and see #3.
5. Getting random people from global to help me bypass non-optional bosses

Overall, this game doesn't generate very much rewarding gameplay unless you're playing one of the few cookie cutter meta builds.
The most enjoyable portions are when I'm able to set up interesting skill chains and crunching through garbage mobs.

I dont understand how anyone doesnt have more than enough gold to respec. I'm sitting on one million gold atm and I respec 6-12 points quite often to try something out. Fucks sake I think some people just want to play a one button, I Win, game.

6-10 points isnt a respec. It's a small reconfiguration of your existing build. Respecing to try actual different skills (like a different element for instance) gets REAL FUCKING expensive real fast. But they did cut the cost by quite a lot in the last patch.

Before the last patch? L-O-L holy shit, hahaha. If you needed to respec more than 15 points and it didn't work out? Hope you had 750k gold if you were level 85+!!!!

The bigger point is when a game has so many options, players should never be punished for wanting to experiment. Free respecs are not an "I Win" button. They let players actually try shit out in the actual game instead of having to rely on third party tools like path of building. And arguments against them, like the one you make in this quote, never make any sense in any context other than "gamers being gamers" and thinking this opinion somehow makes you impressive, in a video game. You may not being doing that, but in my experience that's usually what it amounts to.

My only complaint, and I’m not sure it qualifies at this point, is related to loot and the reinforcement schedule. It isn’t necessarily that the loot is bad but it feels like the small bits are doled out so infrequently, that dopamine hit if seeing a drop is too spaced out. Nothing is trying to condition me to want to do it 1,000 more times. Things like opening a gold chest and not even getting 1 gold drop. Killing the end of Act 3 Boss and seeing nothing but magic items. I’ve only done Tier 1 maps bc we traveled for Christmas. But even a shitty drop would help people say “Damn not this time, make next.” Getting nothing is like “why bother?” The game seems to eschew everything we know about psychology and game design.

Agreed, I got 3 divines in my campaign and then have only seen one more total, mapping from t1-t15s, aside from trading. At most I get a couple exalts and MAYBE an alc or something.....if I'm really lucky maybe a duplicate unique that sucks just as much as the first time it dropped. :(

Loot feels real bad, and we don't have nearly as much control as we did in POE1. I liked being able to spec into strongboxes, or essences, or delirium, etc -> Crossing my fingers that they have a decent plan whenever they come back from holiday and release the next patch.

WAIT. There's more. It's even worse.

This theory of structuring survivability so that everything eventually scales to one-shots is so strange to me. I didn't like it in POE1, either. I think it would be a better, more flexible game and more thematically consistent with what I can see of POE2's vision to have survival come as a result of building a combination of mitigation and regeneration mechanics that operate over a MUCH longer period of time, like tens of seconds. Failure would be getting ground down to the point where you're out of potion charges, have a silver of life, and are brought to a near-zero combat rate to stay alive.

"Everything is going great! I'm plowing through all this shit and -" BOOM! DEAD! is just not a fun game experience.

Edit: The fact that dodge roll isn't a skill you can modify with gems and passives is a big fail. It could be super cool to customize it to change distance and timing, phasing, cause damage, displace/stun mobs, trigger heals, drop spells, etc, etc.

Wow, sounds like you just one to press one button and win the game.

If that's directed at me, quite the contrary. I really enjoyed the pacing of the normal campaign where you have the space to build multiple skills into powerful combinations, where windups and standing still didn't mean instant death, and where careful positioning was possible. That gameplay can't survive POE1 endgame speeds, which is a problem basically everyone has called out.

up to tier 3 map (quest) today so I'm here to come in with a fresh take:

It'd be real cool if we had six attempt portals like the olde ways, so i don't push toward a breach map, then blow it due to a random instant death.

thank you for coming to my ted talk.

I was able to finish T15s today, didnt have much play time but glad to have it done. Also have 4 boss points but I don't usually aim for boss maps, just take them if they are in the way.

This weekend its monk time and then if I get to maps before a patch, just gonna wait and see what happens next.

Best rare I've found so far, dps is pretty insane at 509

The potential for finding gg items like this is the only thing keeping me going really

I wish controller switching to keyboard was a thing. WASD is awesome but starting to hurt my wrist a little.

So far Zero good items to sell! That wand wasnt worth much it seems after all.

Playtime with zero days off work and playing in the evenings!

They've responded that they're actively working on a solution that lets you swap them at will. So you can do controller for combat and easily swap to mouse for skill / stash / inventory management.
