What's the objective limit then? At what point does it cross from feature-rich to bloated mess?

And if bloat is not a bullshit excuse, then be ready to be disappointed. Or just like PoE2 for a few leagues at the start. PoE1 has 10 years of history wrt updates, PoE2 isn't deviating from that.

No but if you are there for each league you have the knowledge to keep up to date

When did you start playing PoE1? IIRC, it took you ~2 leagues before you were making your own builds. I think the "gotta get in at the start" is a self defeating excuse.

A million actually sounds really low. Palworld broke a million easily. So did Lost Ark. Even motherfucking Farm Simulator 25 broke 1.3m.

I know this is early access and not full release, but they are not filling me with confidence that they will be able to handle the volume they are going to get.

Took me about 3-4 leagues way back at like 2.0 or 2.1 or some shit before I started to make my own builds. This was way back when Sunder was the thing.Took me like a league on its own to even know WTF a good item was. Granted I was not an ARPG veteran or whatever, but still. Still could not tell you how to craft anything worthwhile with all the systems in the game. But then again I have not played in many leagues. Because every time I get hyped by their pre-league content drops, I never end up playing because of all this BS and jsut too much hassle to learn it all over again.

Kalandra. Affliction was the first league i actually made a build, and that is kind of a stretch since it was using knowledge/pobs from various other builds on a well known, powerful skill (FR)

Plus I spend an inordinate amount of time researching things in ARPGs compared to the general populace

I'm also not claiming you cant learn poe1. I'm saying it's way, way more manageable to learn poe2 by comparison.

Man you guys will argue about the dumbest shit.

I have a pop launch on teek for the weekend, so hopefully by the time I get to play(monday) all the server issues will be taken care of(or at least poof during work hours). Thankfully its the kind of game where missing launch weekend isnt a big deal. Because I think they are going to get swarmed, a lot more then 1mill or 1.7million mentioned, the buy in is pretty damn cheap.

Cant decide what to try first. Blood mage looks fun. With my late start time though, probably some feedback I can watch/read before making a choice at least.

Im sure POE2 will be a bloated mess at some point too. Since the head dev does not believe in ever discarding content. Its great for the hard core players, but sucks for the casuals. There is a balance they need to set somehow. But either way, right now its as fresh as its ever going to get. And if you ever want to get in on the ground floor of POE, the time is now.

FYI, you can claim your key directly on the POE website if you're eligible, just go to your account and look for the "Path of Exile 2 Early Access" link. Can't wait!
I dont think there is a key. Mine just "Your account will be allowed to log in and play during Path of Exile 2 Early Access." Maybe you mean the steam key?

You've got until Friday afternoon to kill Quarm before your EQ guild becomes a PoE2 guild.

I won't disagree with that. I just feel like there's a disproportionate amount of excitement, not necessarily in this thread, for a game whose older cousin has been available for quite a while.

Well, a lot of us were expecting a PoE1 league before year's out and not motherfucking goddamn late February. So yeah, people are eye-fucking the younger cousin.

I think there's stark differences between a few types of POE players.
  1. Die hards who don't play much else and barely notice the bloat because they've done it all.
  2. People who play a few leagues a year
  3. Greenhorns who get overwhelmed by the bloat and have no idea what to do or not do and can't enjoy it because of that.
  4. Ultra ultra casuals who just play to kill monsters for a few hours and don't even notice what's going on or care.

Type 1 embraces the bloat, Type 4 doesn't notice the bloat, the middle ground is deeply effected by it.

I was actually disappointed that aside from a new atlas system(and that may even be similar to a previous thing they tried years ago, I'm pretty new.), all of the endgame stuff is pasted from POE1.

But like someone said, been waiting for a new league for about 2-3 months already so I am definitely looking forward to checking it out.

I also have a ton of POE1 systems to learn and a lot of end game content I've never engaged with......as long as the game is fun I'm all for it. Worst-case scenario I just try a couple new types of builds and go back to POE1 and league start with one of those.

Won't get a chance to play until Saturday at the earliest so at least I should dodge a lot of the server issues.

I think around D4's release, there were people posting in that thread relating anecdotes of friends/family/coworkers playing D4 who were otherwise not "gamers". With absolutely no proof, I can't help but wonder if something similar, but to a lesser degree, is occurring with PoE2 EA.

Haven't played PoE1 for years, but doing EA just because it's "shiny". Almost inevitable that I'll bail again at some stage due to PoE being a trading/economy simulator at it's core.

Can't see self-found being significantly more viable in PoE2, but should still be easy to find dozens of hours of enjoyment before reality kicks in at the endgame.
