I'd say the slow vs fast debate is mostly about the one skill one button clear full screen play style that currently dominates PoE. "Slowing" things down from that doesn't have to mean slower or more tedious. Imagine you change it so white mobs take more than one hit to kill, but you increase their exp/loot proportionately, then you invite multi skill synergy play style over/with the one skill/button play style. Or in other words, you replace white mobs with blue mobs, blues with rares, rares with uniques, and then make a new legendary mob to replace uniques. I don't think anyone would complain about that.

I have imagined it, and I've played through it (its called early game) and everyone wants to move past that as quickly as possible. It's tedious.

I think people just have trouble conveying what they actually want. What POE did was remove upper limiters. Your character never really feels "done" ever. And the limits you can push a character to are far beyond what most people want, except there is that nagging feeling that most people get in video games where even if they aren't a completionist they want to feel like they've achieved a goal.

Diablo 2 had very clear cut frame limitations. "I get to these cast frames and I legitimately cannot go higher, I'm done" and people like that. D2 wasn't really a slow game, it just has clear, definable upper limits. And that is what I think people actually want. They don't want to really, actually go slow. Fuck it taking more than 1 hit to kill a goddamn white monster at high gear levels, that's atrocious.

They really made a point of emphasizing how much you’d be blasting at end game so I dunno if it’s really gonna be a slow as we’re thinking. As far as tedious.. I’m not sure about this map system yet. While it looked cool, it wasn’t particularly inventive, mostly a veneer of change over stuff that is tried and true, which is ok for now but I am hopeful they have some tricks of their sleeve going forward. One thing about this delve layout for maps is I assume everyone’s will be different, which could kinda suck rng wise , I’m not sure how I feel about everyone basically having a different atlas. I wonder if the atlas will be the same per account or if each new char willl have a different atlas

I love the graphical improvements but I was really hoping for some more interesting mechanics twists for breach delirium etc.. they’re basically the same. I’m guessing their logic is they will be getting a lot of players new to poe / ex d4 players etc so going over these systems we already know may make sense to them

I went through this last night, seeing if I'd spent enough previously, and during my research it said those founder packs are going to be available all through early access. It said anyone that pre-qualifies will get a key prior to release, so in theory if you haven't received a key on Dec. 6th and really want to play, just buy the pack that day. Or in a week, whatever. They don't disappear when EA starts.
Yes, that is the safest way to do that. I think that information, which is trivial for them to present to you, should be present concurrently with the sale of the keys.

I hope all the comments are just "That's literally what they used to be called until dipshits like you came along and ruined the franchise"

As much as I truly love Heroes of Might and Magic. An endlessly generating version of it for POE maps does sound like an exercise in tedium.

Someone posted this. Seems that shows up if you spent enough.

Here's what mine says. I know I have purchased enough for a key. It's misleading. Can someone confirm that they don't have that link on their account?

When was the last time you played? The atlas passive tree has made the plethora of content less of an issue. Doing extra content you haven't invested into isn't worth your time, you can effectively ignore it.

It's still an issue, sure, but less so when the player understands they can simply run past it.
been a while. spotty before that as well.

looks like Ancestor. the autobattle league. 8/23.

lol checked my account, and char list. and was "what the fuck is a Warden?" what the fuck is a tincture?

Raider, got completely redone it seems. thats new to this most recent season? July's settlers of kalguur?

Slow is tedious. Those two things go hand in hand. Whenever I hear people talk about making things slow and methodical I just think... "hrmnn, so if their local highways ran smoothly they'd long for the days of rush hour? Boy i really wish there was a bit of traffic. Not a ton, but like, ya know... just slow me down a good 15 miles below the speed limit"
I mean, that's a very apples to oranges comparison.

Darks Souls gameplay is relatively "slow" and yet it remains one of the greatest game series' ever. Slow doesn't have to equal tedium and there is most certainly a difference. I don't think they are synonymous at all, only amongst bad developers.

On the surface what you're saying makes sense, and then you realize that in all souls likes people are trying to find ways to speed up gameplay with one shots and OP combinations.

That's just... human nature. "How can I break this shit to benefit me".

When people find new ways of overpowering the game they literally giggle and clap. There are like thousands of clips of this behavior in every game genre

I don't see it as more tedious. As someone who casually played poe 1, poe 2 seemed equally tedius from what I've seen, with roughly the same subsystems in place causing it to be equally content bloaty. If it is slower, I would like it, but I'm guessing end game will be just as fast and spammy since they saw success in that. Personally I hated how every build evolved into the same spammy insta kill map clearing creation...but I guess people liked it. It does seem like they attempted to focus some of the systems so its not out of control bloat and is a bit more refined. That alone would be a win.

Played a long time ago, possibly all the way back in beta. And then did a season last year maybe? Otherwise haven't really had a desire to play much.

But a buddy apparently has spent a lot of money over the years and gave us all codes. So guess I'm in to play this in a couple weeks.

I think being league-starved in POE1 till probably February is likely going to make any addicts buy EA just for a new thing to play......pretty genius to be honest.

Will say that the skill gem combos could turn out to be a ton of fun to experiment with......not sure about the new mapping system, and not really a huge fan of most of the activities they brought over from POE1 so far.

Did they say if I get, for instance, a couple points from Ritual, am I able to use those in a different tree if I choose to? I wasn't clear on that part. I like the fact that you can advance whatever you enjoy doing, just unsure if there's a point to do the things you dont plan to focus on.
