My only major issues at this point as minion witch is too many 1 shot mechanics on bosses. I'm too old for that kind of shit. That said, anyone using minions get sniper ASAP and spam the fuck out of gas shot. That is god tier ability. Absolute banger DPS for everything so far. If I ever run into something immune to it I may have to reconsider.

Have they said anything about mines, traps, and brands? Seems odd to push combo play styles so hard, but then allow minions and totems. Or are those more active than in poe1?

Are there any mobility skills? Not just getting are quicker, but getting out of danger.

Design philosophy feels rotten to the core.

Still can't get the login to remember me. But things are working better, bought an armor skin since none of mine transferred over and I didn't buy a supporter pack that had armor skins but I had plenty of points. Feels better lol.

A lot of these are tied to classes that aren't in the game so hard to say if they actually got cut. Traps are likely the Huntress thing along with spear combat, mines are Shadow(saboteur) and Brands iirc were Templar oriented. It'd make sense for them to have like an "Artificer" skill category for both traps and mines, and some sort of Holy skill group that'd have Brand(maybe reworked to be more holy in nature) along with stuff like Dominating Blow and other similar melee/summoner stuff that Templar was based on.

Doesn't seem there's any mobility skill though, just ways to change the base dodge roll.

So about 10% into act 3.

I really like some of this game, but there's a few things that worry me in the future. I can't imagine playing melee, at least as a first character in a league. Hardcore has to be a joke because it feels like there's no way that's possible with the current mix low gear drops and difficulty.

I am really worried about maps. I don't care what they do with pinnacle bosses, but losing a map from one death is going to be insane. Resetting and wiping loot after death is kinda nuts. I feel like you could safely make the gameplay punishing, or consequences punishing, but doing both is overkill. Even sometime middle ground like mobs spawn and pick up the loot and will drop it again if you get back there.

The passive tree and the skill combos are kind of boring so far, likely because I have zero uniques I can equip. But at least for the agi side, there's no crazy build defining nodes that I've found, just some soft synergies. There's just a bunch of stuff that's neat or something, like "your evade can work on all attacks but you lose 70% of it". Sure, ok you could do a build made specifically for it but its evading, it's not killing anything.

Really liking most of it, just not sure the level 15 experience can scale through endgame well.

Subject to change of course but if you search on the passive tree you'll see zero hits for brands and zero hits for mines. Traps have one big wheel. I think traps and mines are the same thing? I want to say they said in a previous reveal that there was just the one.

Something that I think has merit with this combo skill system is if you find yourself with a fixed rotation (grenade A, grenade B, crossbow shot, repeat) to set up a macro with something like autohotkey that does that for you. First press of a button is skill one, second is skill two, third is skill three, fourth is back to skill one while keeping it to one action per button so we're within the rules.

I wanted to try attack totems as there are two different sources of +1 attack totem on the tree as well as some bonuses to allies in that general area (totems are allies in poe1, assuming there are in poe2) but needing four crossbow bolts to kill a white mob was more work that I was willing to do to get to the 30s whan artillary totem becomes available. The next time I pick this up I'm going to skip every single boss I can for as long as I can in an effort to outlevel the content. Doing that mud worm at level three is just not worth the hassle and it's not worth the time.

edit - I don't know this to be the case but I assume totems suck or die constantly or both.

I think people are forgetting what the PoE 1 experience was like without over a decade+ of autism figuring out every single corner of it, massive speed/power creep making the game insanely "fast", etc.

Sure, PoE 2 definitely plays slower and loot is fewer and further between, but I think a lot of you have lost some perspective on how dogshit slow PoE 1 was at launch. Especially when you didn't have, "10 REASONS YOU HAVE TO PLAY THIS LEAGUESTARTER!!" littering every corner of YouTube with 100% solved builds.

It's not so much slow but I normally play several characters a league. I can't imagine leveling a second character through the current campaign a second time unless stuff changes. Of course you would be better equipped and more currency next time.

100% agree. OG POE was a splintered dildo in the ass the first time you played it. Seeing how they fixed and refined it over the years is why I am not getting worked up over how fucky things are right now. The stuff that sucks too much will get toned down or players beefed up. The nerds will be mathing out the math.

So found the "always cast while standing still" option if someone needs it. Can't believe its hidden that deep in the menu vs clicking one of the hot buttons.

Okay they somehow forgot alcs exist? You get a ton of blues, several exalts but nothing to make those yellow so you can slam them? Gameplay wise yes, they overdid this whole dodgeroll thing. Fights were you have to fire your spells/skills in a 3 second window then roll/run/whatever for 20 secs and repeat are okay but not on every boss and yellow.
Not being able to roll through enemies is a bit infurating especially when they design encounters that everything gangs in on you second one into the fight.

I love the new engine and the look and feel, really. Man I hope they port all this into POE1. POE1 gameplay with POE2 engine would be a dream.

Yeah, that rolling thing fucked me the 5 or so times I died to that werewolf faggot at the end of act 1. All the little wolves gangbanged me into a corner and rolling doesn't make you immune so...dead.

Also, I finally gave up to go level more, but it is fucking retarded how huge some of these levels are between the waypoint and the boss, particularly when it procedurally generates each time. I didn't want to leave because I dread trudging back through that manor.

I'm pretty sure I have a shit build, as I'm not focusing on one specific element (sorceress), so that's probably part of my failure. I started with witch and freeze is definitely OP, but it got boring. So now I flame circle, frost bomb, and lightning bolt, with ice nova for when they mob me. I'm sure I should be min/maxing, but that was pretty boring.

Just finished Act 1 about an hour ago. I died once, enjoyed the fight a lot. Then got rolled by the first boss in the next zone and decided to call it a night.

Loot, as people have said, is really bad. I'm trying to stock pile gear upgrade items, but can't because in order to progress I need to upgrade my low level gear. I'm sure they will tweak it, but if they don't then man, its gonna be a grind.

Collision detection is hot garbage. The game would be better without it but I doubt they will ever go that route. Was it in PoE1?

All in all I really like the game, its day 2 of EA, and with how good the 1st was (according to anyone that talked about it) I'm sure this will get there too. Plenty of time.

not to impressed with minions so far, but not finished act1. was watching ghazzy's recap, might try some of it when i hit the wall.

act 1 - after getting spirit gem
raging spirits, flame wall, skeleton warrior and sniper, unearthed
act 2
warriors from weapon, hound, unearthed, frost mages, flame wall, raging spirits, pain offering, flammability
act 3
warriors from weapon, hound, raging spirits, pain offering, reavers, minion death

he shows how to setup "auto-bombing" raging spirit at 15:45ish

I have to hard disagree with that suggestion for act1 - arsonists absolutely slap, and anyone playing skeleton sniper and warrior ( other than the free one off the mace ) is bad and should feel bad ;p

You get regal shards for dismantling every rare, so technically you do get a way, but you don't get enough rares to really make full regals that often. The crafting aspect definitely feels like they completely missed the mark. I did slam 2 exalts into some lvl 5 rare boots at low lvl and lucked out into a movespeed mod, but there's just not enough items and currency to craft on your way. The way it is I feel the game will massively favor playing meta shit for leveling until endgame then switching to whatever you want because leveling without proper items is likely not going to work for a lot of skills.

Removing sell recipes and the crafting bench severely limits how you can shore off bad luck too, before you could do stuff like buy a gem and a white iron ring(or find one), sell them to get a resist ring, slap a transmute, then alt a couple of times for a life roll or double resist and have a useable leveling ring especially before specific bosses to fix your resists. But here there's no alt, no recipes, no resist ring(maybe? not sure I only played a bit, only saw iron rings though), can't hop to your hideout for a quick resist craft before a boss with elemental damage. There's the gems or whatever but I barely saw any gear with sockets for them so that didn't help. You don't get much loot at all naturally either so you can't just "grind ledge/sarn/acqueducts" to get your gear caught up easily. Feel like they're definitely going to have to do a pass on these, I didn't mind the challenging encounters and stuff but overall I think I got pretty lucky with my loot in general and it would have been a lot more annoying if I didn't.

I finally got my 1st Ascendancy done and some upgrades. My minion build is now working, I just need to Git Gud for bosses sadly.

If you have a portal to town and log out. Log back in later a significant time later your portal is still there. Like an hour.

So much for killing mobs, best loot so far was rare chest piece that came from a clicked on boulder. Movement speed is kind of slow, but the place it shows up the most is in town. Jeeze.
