I honestly think it sounds perfect for a hardcore league. most HC players don't just rush through content as fast as possible, they are a little more cautious and tend to grind a bit more in order to over-level areas for the sake of safety. The new Beyond League portals/monsters are going to add additional loot and experience to each map without having to grind ledge/docks/whatever over and over as much. Works for me, if I can get to the end of an act a few levels higher than I would have otherwise, then that's great, I hate having to grind one map dozens of times over for exp before moving on.
I agree completely. After playing Invasion on release day, I am looking forward to a league that isn't as insane but still offers me opportunities to accept risk for greater reward.

What is wrong with the Beyond League?
its a rehash of an old league that wasnt very successful, and done so in a way that is against whats the most fun aspect of ARPGs. The best part of ARPGs is moving from area to area quickly, killing large pacts of mobs with big aoes and watching loot fly. There will need to be large loot incentives to have any reason to do portals at all. apart from that, its against GGGs design philosophy for these leagues. Hardcore leagues are meant to be be challenges. Theres nothing increasing difficulty in Beyond at all.

ironically, the spontaneous nature of it was the best part of the Invasion league and its the part they did away with in their copy.

Eh I thought you killed your large pack of mobs and then more mobs spawn from portals? How do you play differently?

Are you assuming you have to kite the entire zone together to open a portal or something?

im assuming it will take more than a pack of mobs to open a portal, as in youll have to run around and gather multiple groups before pulling them all back to 1 spot (not the easiest thing in PoE) and kill them there. Otherwise youd have a dozen portal locations every zone and it loses any sense of being a special event at all.

I just saw there is a huge update coming on the 20th......isn't that skill tree going to be completely changed?

I haven't played in nearly a year and needless to say this game has quite the learning curve for min/max...because of that I figured I would wait until the new skill tree is complete or am I mistaken?

That is the new skill tree, you can use the offline builder Crazily and preplan it. Im trying to achieve 6800ish health, max block, and nasty viper strike for example. The tool and also poebuilder.com lets you import items or make them so you can see what your in game dps would be roughly.

Started a couple days ago and i'm pretty overwhelmed. Using an Arc Witch Build I found on youtube. I feel overpowered right now 99% of the time (lvl 30), until i get to bosses which are hard.

I'm not really sure what I should/shouldn't be picking up, and i havent changed a single piece of gear in like... 15-20 levels now. Just no idea what is good and what isn't. Game is hard.

at your level, i imagine you arnt playing chaos innoculation. So life/resists on close to your level gear with armor, armor/evasion or armor/ES is a good start on what to look for. Also keep an eye on gear with the sockets/links you need.

for a weapon, im thinking your using wands. So low level, +1 lightning is very good. Other than that, just get as high spellpower as you can, bonus if it comes with cast speed.

Is there a decent list anywhere of all the skill gem changes? I've seen stuff like curses and auras are weaker, etc, but haven't seen any actual numbers.

Thanks, I did see that list posted earlier, but it looked incomplete. For example, there's nothing about curses in that post (granted, I didn't read all 18 pages of the thread, so maybe it's there somewhere.) The auras listed also are relatively minor changes, which only change a few builds. For all the people worked up on the forums, I figured there would be much broader nerfs or something.

Thanks, I have played a ton, I had a level 73 hardcore at one point that I lost doing map so I know a lot about the game, just not the changes that are coming. Time to go theorycraft!
