I wonder why they never added something for colorblind people, I remember they talked about it a really long time ago, I think before the original release, but they never bothered. They missed their chances when they redid all the gems, should have made square/triangles/round gems with sockets the same shape accordingly, or just added a secondary color scheme. Shapes would have been easier though I think. They could probably still do it.

Considering how many people are colorblind and how important green/red colors are in this game, it's weird, especially since GGG tends to be fairly attentive to this kind of stuff.

makes you wonder why ALL games do that shit. Red and green everywhere. I think LoL did something about it finally? but was a major issue there too.

Cause they're natural opposite colors. We use that shit a lot in real life too, like traffic lights and shit. LoL had purple/blue iirc, but that might also be confusing. Dota has green/red but you can change it to light blue/pink or something, this is some shit that was in the original WC3 or something so they ported that too. I don't think it matters too much if you use icons for heroes/champions on minimap though, it's not like you need to know the color of the buildings because they don't move.

Issue with the PoE system is they use 3 colors, not just red/green, so they can't easily replace one with blue. Yellow would work though, probably.

RGB are primary colors for light sure. But we also know what humans can see, and in what ratios. And that doesn't match up.

In the United States, about 7 percent of the male population-or about 10.5 million men-and 0.4 percent of the female population either cannot distinguish red from green, or see red and green differently from how others do (Howard Hughes Medical Institute, 2006)
only effects men. thats probably the reason.

My first day ever using poe.trade and it was pretty smooth. So far traded for Added Chaos Damage, Infernal Mantle and Clear Mind jewel. I think all in all they only cost me 6 chaos for the lot and now my fire totems are hitting like trucks. I think 6.8k DPS on the tooltip. I got 6 sockets on my Mantle easily (maybe only 4 Jewelers) but got unlucky with my 20-30 fuses I dropped on it so I'm sitting on it being 3L at the moment. Best I got was a 4L roll.

Just got Belly of the Beast to drop which seems to be worth around 20c-1ex. Already have an Exhalt in stash as well. But I'll probably just save my currency for a different toon. The FT toon is pretty beastly at the moment. I may buy that fire damage belt as well but that seems to cost around 20c which is a tad rich.

jesus, 6s and you can only get a 3 link? 4l should be like 1 in 3, 5 link is like 1 in 100.

I rolled off all the 4L I got. It just happened I ran out of fuse and got left with a 3L.

if I have trouble telling the difference between colors, I usually just figure out which one looks "brighter", and that works fine. If the colored (no offense, #BLM) rings around the sockets were wider, I could tell the difference without needing different colors. On the gems, I just look at the stat requirements.

See, traffic lights are specific shades in EU, so even people blind to red can differentiate the colors. It's not like you can't notice there is some weird color that is trying to be red but seems more like green-ish. But in general I agree that devs could pay more attention to this kind of stuff, it's not like it's hard to do. Either you do some subtle changes or just throw in an option that gives more hamfisted solution.

I spend 4 nights chain farming aqueducts for humility divination cards to make a tabula rasa. Finally get all 9 cards after many hours and make my tabula. I decide I may as well finish off merciless malachai, so next step is to kill him. Malachai drops another tabula rasa.

Sigh... at least it should be easy to sell the extra.

Nice 5L'd my chest. Think I'll stop there. Also chroma'd it to the correct socket colors. I assume certain types favor certain colors? It is a mage robe and it was a pain in the ass to get 2 reds in the 5L. But getting all 6 sockets to Blue seemed to be its jive.

Yeah chromatic colors are based on the stat requirements of the item (higher str reqs = red %, dex = green %, int = blue %), makes things like a 3r2g1b vaal regalia not fun to get.

Yeah the 6L for the item would be 3R 2B 1G. I imagine that would take quite a few chromatics to get done. Oh well the only thing I'm missing is Fire Penetration but I always fast Flammability on the mobiles and I have some (I think 10%) passive fire penetration via the build anyways so it isn't a huge loss. Now I need to find my next build that looks fun! Thinking some Marauder build and maybe put this Belly of the Beast to use.

Also what I love about this game is similar to d2 where getting stronger actually has a point. Unlike D3 which decided to go the exact opposite route of PoE and strip any semblance of an economy from the game. In D3 you get stronger, you fight the same shit but it is also comparatively stronger and you just get more drops. I understand that is the basic premise of mapping but at least in PoE every map can drop rare currencies you can exchange via the market for items. In D3 the goal is to always have yourself and the mobiles at about equal strength to play optimally. In this having the mobiles at higher strength is nice but not at all required due to the rich currency system. It is quite refreshing.

I guess Marvel has a similar system but their economy is basically trading in SoJ's and that is not my cup of tea

You can use Vorici stuff to reduce the amount of chroms it takes, on average. Can still be fucked, but if you do like 2reds at least, it's a lot less chroms on average to roll 3 off colors. Still it'd be rough with this type of armor, you'd be a lot better off trying with a chainmail(armor/es) type.

Color Blind Fix : pathofexile

heres an old reddit post on PoE's colorblind problem.

couple workarounds, none are super great.
best one seems to be. have a red, blue, green gem in your inventory. pick it up. the correlating color socket will highlight making it obvious to even colorblind, which is which.

Most premade loot filters probably don't REALLY consider colorblindness either.

Is there not a fix for Color blind people yet? : pathofexile
another thread on it. this one also talks about the ctrl+c copy item into to clipboard. which lets your create a macro, with autohotkey.

Also talk of creating a custom color profile for PoE for your graphics card/adapter.

The one about leaving a gem of each color in your inventory seems like the best idea. Thanks Caliane, I'll start doing that. Also, I notice that its much easier to identify socket colors on armor and weapons on the ground. The red and green look more distinct.
