I hope they understand that when fixing double dipping they are also going to have to fix the entire end game as well. If the only reasonable way to get a char high level and into high tier maps and end game is to use double dipping, what does that mean for all of that content when double dipping is removed? Buff all skills? Nerf mob hp? Do nothing and make end game really slow and tedious? I hope they understand the impact of what they are about to do.

I dont think thats fair. People were in high level maps long before poison came and will be after double dipping is gone. You can get 100k+ dps with just about any skill and go through the maps easily enough, double dipping was just the most efficient way because it took little to no work.

Poison is very strong and everyone who has used it can attest, esp the no reflect part of the mechanic. TBH though I've run with people using BV, HoWA, and Flameblast this week that just does as much if not more damage than poison or double dipping ignites. Everytime they refresh the meta or introduce new mechanics / skills like whats coming in 3.0 its always the end of the game or something extreme.

Remember auras, reduced mana, flameblast nerf of 2015, shotgun nerf, ele prolif nerf.... I mean I could go on here forever but my point is we always make it out ok and the game is fun enough to be growing exponentially. I know I hugely overreacted to the RM, shotgun, and prolif nerfs personally and the game is still awesome. It keeps the game fresh imo.

Not very confident this would amount to anything but I 've got an idea for a build and I wanna do it around Dyadus. Thinking Ancestral Warchief Chieftain stacking ignites by going 100% fire conversion with Avatar of Fire and Cold to Fire or Pyre and Emberwake for stacking them. The chill is on hit and does not depend on cold damage being done so we get 200% burning damage from dual wielding these.

yeah. dyadus used to be total shit. I had a few, considered them for frostblades.

51-85physical damage base.
Adds 189-200 fire in mainhand. (variable)
adds 173-215 cold damage in offhand. (variable.)
10-15% ias.
Enemies chilled by you take 40% increased burning damage.
25% chance to ignite when i main hand.
100% increased chill duration on enemies when i offhand.

as you can see, major buff to the added cold and fire damages. oddly, less physical?
big buff to the burning damage as well.

As far as for double dipping, it didn't just affect poison, it's ignites as well.

Shock + critical + ignite is a huge part of the meta and what it takes to achieve this damage outside of poison, take an ignite build against atziri or Phoenix, it's absolute dogshit.

They will have to rebalance a lot of encounters without double dipping or these encounters will just be brick walls of hp (think core malachai before they nerfed his hp by 80%)

The skill will come back but I see it neutering a lot of skills that work only because they can achieve a lot more damage with them.

This is where they have to be careful. I think they backed themselves in a corner a few times creating a metabthen trying to fix it by making a few key bosses immune to that meta. The war against min/max is never ending.

People just dont want to try and play without poison. Those bosses who are immune to ignite/poison still get killed enough for anyone who wants to run Shaper to have the keys to do it. While double dipping poison/ignite is 100x better than anything else the damage has still spiraled out on control on those skills so much that any of them can be used to down the end game bosses if your willing to invest in the character to do it.

I focus mostly on hardcore so lets use characters from there as examples. Etups Howa spectral thower blows through anything without any double dipping. So does Alkaizers standard EQ league starter. My lacerator a few leagues ago was running around with 300k dps tooltip while vaal hasted. The damage is there, you just wont be able to use the crutch that is double dipping.

whats your base? a bow build still?

Curse on hit-split arrow. better if you have chain or pierce from other sources.
lit arrow, or shrapnel shot as well.
ball lightning is solid for casters. its a bit slow. but will offscreen and hit unlimited targets in is aoe. faster projectiles will speed it up. but lower its dps.(which is a nonfactor for coh application.)
arc will hit many targets chaining around. but not unlimited.
orb of storms is unlimited targets within a "short" range. range is actually pretty decent. about the size of blasphemy.

I killed Uber Atziri and Shaper on SSF with fireball sir within one week, as in plain old level 1 fireball. Normal Uber and Atziri do not ignite but they don't need to, the split with the spear ignites and that's the dangerous phase you need to one shot and run. Its very easy to do Uber Atziri with Fireball and the amount of damage it's explosions do is insane. The explosions overlap and are tagged "AoE" so you can use conc effect just like on arctic breath etc and hit 4-5 at once. I was lucky enough to find 1 rolling flames on SSF and with it I got sometimes 6-7 explosions if I was far enough away.

As for shock being nerfed I think you might be confusing double dipping. Shock is a status ailment which has already been nerfed to the ground. Doing a critical hit with lightning only shocks to make them take increased damage and doesn't have a secondary damage effect. Lightning or elemental damage don't add any bonus to shock. They aren't going to remove chill, freeze, and shock.

What's a good way to ae auto curse at range?

I play a bow build and use Curse on Hit - Curse - Herald of Ice, it doesn't land the curse every hit but plenty enough for me. You can use Herald of Thunder instead of Ice as well, Herald of Ash won't work though

I'm doing ST crit HoWA, just looking for a way to curse with via attacking with ST. Doesn't look like there's one as reliable as melee's blasphemy support, so I guess I'll spend my mana on aura reservation instead. Probably Wrath and HoT. Then switch to Discipline for CI.

Decided to try out Fire Nova Mine, not bad so far. Couple gripes i have is the placement of them can get annoying, they really need to add a toggle on/off option to attack in place instead of needing to hold the key down+skill key. Was gonna make a keyboard macro to have shift+w for example hotkeyed but saw its against the TOS. Would also be nice if they did some reworking of mines/traps to help with leech like they did with totems, saboteur should have the option of having them leech for you in the ascendancy tree and remove that blind tree line to have those nodes. Traps/Mines are a fun break, hopefully they give it some love in 3.0.

I would only worry about cursing bosses like T15+ or the raids with HoWA. When you swap to CI youll want to run Wrath + Discpline which is plenty. When I do curse I use orb of storms + curse on hit + elemental weakness + conductivity but you could replace one of the 2 curses with increased duration. Lightning resistance can go negative and dual cursing is one of the strongest mechanics but only needed for the raids really.

Are you in LSC Death? I can throw you some really nice HoWA stuff for when you go CI. I can throw you some of the raid keys too if you are level 70ish to start wetting your appetite also.

First time playing league, trying a Tornado Shot using a guide from the forum.

My biggest problem is I have no idea when to spend money on trading to get a better weapon or gear. Any pointers?

For ST builds, should I be keeping Slower Projectile Support at level one? Being right up in a boss's shit(30% less proj speed @ 1 -> 49% less @ 20) doesn't seem worth the benefit of 9% more damage(20% more proj damage @ 1 -> 29% more prof damage @ 20).

Hell, maybe just switch GMP with Faster Attacks?
