I don't understand Jack or shit about it and don't want to waste materials by being dumb or doing it too early, but I feel like I'm missing out on stuff that everyone else takes for granted. The safehouse I raided had a crafting thing that raised armor to 24% quality, but other than randomly increasing a few whites and blues, I had no idea wtf to do with it. And plenty of rares would be really nice if I could get better/more sockets and links, but I'm assuming I'm a little too low to worry about that yet (40). But I figure I should figure it out sooner rather than later.

Yeah, don't worry too much about crafting at low levels except maybe using the bench in your hideout once in awhile. You can't really "craft" until you have tons of orbs and know what you're doing, so save your orbs and use them to buy what you need from other players

No MoM yet, I just have half my mana reserved by Wrath because Worms are still insanely expensive (and rising far faster than I am gaining currency ofc). So 465 mana unreserved and my Arc Trap costs 66 mana to toss.

Yeah, just how it be unfortunately. You'll be able to ditch it eventually, the joys of gear progression.

Will it come back if I end up going with Loreweave in the long run? Not sure how non-Tinker/EB trap builds get their sustain.

Blood Magic. I'm not convinced that Loreweave + MoM + shitty mana regen is better than Tinkerskin + MoM + EB + good sustain. The latter has much higher raw EHP.

Eh, it's not a boss melter like other skills, but I'm certain it's more than enough damage to handle at least Shaper Guardians with proper investment. I dunno, we'll see how far I can take this character, but yeah ultimately I just want something cheap and effective for my first char, not top tier. Mapping/Delving with Storm Brand is 100x better than Arc Totems, for sure, and it's much safer as a boss killer due to not having to refresh totems all the time.

Looks like they decided to not activate the +1 totem mod as it was deemed to powerful. Kinda shitty as I rolled heiro figuring I could eventually get it, why even take the second totem away from heirop then?

communication on this was a pretty big fuck up, but if that's the big fuck up of the league we're in a pretty good spot

Okay, we've had a talk about this, and we're going to re-enable the mod. It'll be rare, and expensive to craft, as its power deserves. We'll make sure it's patch noted when it is added in. Save up your iLevel 75+ shields with Veiled Prefixes until that happens!

Yes, Brand Recall is amazing, no need to keep placing totems with unavoidable spin-up time. Further, having 5/6 Brands fully attached in a pack is massive, massive synergy and will blow up just about anything with no investment. AND FURTHER STILL, Brands creep through a pack all on their own. It falls off in boss damage somewhat, but Brands don't die so they're much easier to play around.

The linked build looks very expensive, but I could see that working for Occultist. Hell, I might roll that if I have enough currency for my next character. For a starter, I'd go with a more classic elemental based setup and Heirophant for the quality of life (30% cooldown reduction on Brand Recall is amazing).

EDIT: If anyone has a link to some good video capturing software (not Fraps), I can record a video when/if I hit maps tonight so you can see it in action. It really is an amazing playstyle.

His clear in between the shaper phases looks pathetic. That build guide smells of memes hidden with expensive standard gear.

He's using Wither as a setup and doesn't have the 30% cooldown reduction from Heirophant -- that cooldown reduction is HUGE for managing your Brands.

EDIT: Oh, he does have the cooldown reduction, he's just wasting time using Wither.

Watching Raiz play, I don't disagree that the clear can be good, even without heiro. I'm asking how it can trump Arc. That's a pretty tall order.

If the comparison is between Arc Totems and Storm Brand, Storm Brand wins out in clear 100% of the time for me. I've had multiple Arc Totem characters over the leagues, including one in Incursion, none of them clear as fast and effortlessly as Storm Brand. That spinup time is rough. Now if you're comparing between self-cast Arc or Arc Traps and Storm Brand, that's different, but that wouldn't be an apple to apple comparison like Storm Brand and Arc Totem.
