Engineers know superior units when they see them?
My wife is an Engineerr that builds multimillion dollar plants and works with a lot of international contractors. She can't stand it when a German guy is giving a presentation and says shit like "litres per minute", she stops him and says "hey we don't use those kinds of measurements here", German guy has to stop and and recalculate to "gallons per minute".
My wife, a true American, weaker countries kowtow to our units.

It's generally liters per second vs GPM. In any case, there's arguments to be made for imperial and metric units, depending on the subject. In a lot of HVAC situations, imperial units are actually a lot easier to work with than metric.

Cakes and shit have cups and spoons for measurements. Sounds like she needs to get back to the kitchen.

Yeah, I was wondering if a bulldog was the inspiration for any movie monsters.
We know at least one other breed has. Well, book then movie ...

Boy, 9, mauled to death by dogs in Yuba County | The Sacramento Bee

But it all went tragically awry on Sunday, when she left the boy alone with her three pet pit bulls. When she returned from her security guard shift a few hours later, authorities said, the small blond boy, Tyler Griffin-Huston, had been mauled to death.
Roberto Marquez, a lawyer representing Griffin-Heady in the case, said criminal charges would be inappropriate for what was essentially an unpredictable tragedy. His client, he said, was trying to reunite a broken family, and had no sense that her dogs could pose a threat.
I still don't get this mentality. I tend to think it's pretty simple, every animal has a capacity to straight up attack another animal (including humans) for one reason or another. Ultimately you have to question what happens when said animal attacks, if it does. Seems pretty obvious owning animals which can maul the everliving shit out of you is just waiting for it to get pissed/afraid/dementia/whatever and handwaving your responsibility for having it.

Fucked up all around. Fucked up family that had the dog owner trying to adopt her 9 year old brother, with the mom dead and the father with mental issues. Fucked up by leaving the 9 year old alone when she went to work. Fucked up that CPS gave permission for overnight stays but somehow didn't know that there would be no one to care for the boy when she worked. Or she lied about it.

This was probably your point, but the article says NASA has been using the metric system since 1990. I don't think we've done anything but crash into the moon since then. Definitely no manned landings.

Oh geez, not the metric vs imperial argument again. Listen, there's nothing wrong with using imperial units, but to deny that the metric system is more efficient from a calculation and conversion standpoint is sheer idiocy. Anybody that's taken physics/chemistry beyond the high school level should know this.
