yeah there really isn't any reason to own a console anymore, PCs are infinitely better especially when combined with a steam deck. Hardly any games come out on consoles only anymore either. The only ones I can think of this year are Astro bot, Stellar Blade, FF7 Rebirth, and Rise of Ronin and the latter 2 or 3 should be hitting PC next year.

Xbox is even more DEI than Sony sadly, at least Sony lets you play as a white man in their games still, all Microsoft games are literally "put a black woman in it and make her gay" dialed up to 11. All their studio heads and chiefs are basically black woman pushing for more women and gays in hiring, which is why its no surprise they literally haven't put out a decent game in years. I enjoy gamepass for the variety but its all mostly mid-tier slightly-above-crap, outside of Forza Horizon I can't think of any 10/10 gamepass games. Starfield was their "big" game of the past 5 years and it was DEI garbage.

i just like playing on my ps5 because i can turn it on and play a game on my OLED TV without fiddling and it lets me play coop/mp with my brother and other relatives easy.

PC-to-tv is still garbage, and that goes double if you actually use the PC connected to a normal monitor as well as the tv, and imo will probably always be garbage. If MS wanted to make stuff like HDR and 7.1 or higher audio better they would have done so years ago, since basically all they need is to port code over from Xbox to Windows to do it. So I'll always have at least two consoles (Xbox and, grudgingly, Nintendo). Sony can fuck right off though. I'll hang onto my PS5 and try to clean up my backlog on it, but until they completely shut down their CA offices and move everything back to Japan there's zero chance that their first party games won't be DEI slop so that rules out almost all reason to own a playstation. Only real problem is the third party games that decide to release either as an exclusive or PS/PC (usually with Denuvo) only.

And there's no way Xbox is remotely as bad as Sony when it comes to DEI. They talk about it a lot and they hire a few tokens here and there, but outside of a few glaringly obvious fuck-ups (Fable immediately comes to mind) you don't really see much come of it. Starfield being utter shit was just a result of Bethesda being a talentless husk that's been coasting in Skyrim re-re-re-re-re-releases for a decade. You could remove anything remotely DEI-associated, which wasn't really much to begin with, and it would still be a shit game. Out of all the other companies they've bought, Obsidian is the only one worth mentioning and I can't even remember what their last good game was. Outer Worlds sucked, and Avowed looks interesting but in the end will probably suck too. Personally I don't buy Xbox consoles for the first party games, I buy them to play the third party stuff that belong on a TV and would be played with a gamepad regardless of platform. Stuff like SEGA/Atlus games, From Soft, and pretty much anything else that doesn't massively benefit from precise mouse clicking or having an ultrawide screen.

Sony, on the other hand, has been filling every one of their IPs with slop since at least Last of Us 2, and there's absolutely no sign of that trend letting up. Just go take a look at the Wolverine game in development to see what 2025 has in store.

I’ve still played my ps5 the most lately. That said I’m about to start dropping coin on a new build. Won’t be tippy top of the line but my goal is try for something that plays on my TV well.

right now I have my retro stuff and consoles in a theater man cave downstairs. My PC is in our office.

i'm just happy to have a huge backlog of games I never played due to MMOs and kids and stuff, I'm enjoying those now because fewer and fewer new games look good in the slightest. Only new game I bought this year was Astro bot.

Worse than I thought I guess, but still not remotely in the same league as what Sony has been doing.

Admittedly though, a big part of that is because I actually want to play Sony's IPs had they not taken a giant steaming shit on all of them. I would never play either of those MS games even if 100% based, despite them being on Game Pass.

There may still be a place for consoles as long as FromSoft continues to crank out good games with poor PC optimization lol.

I am mostly a console player these days simply due to the comfort of playing in the living room in a lazyboy chair on a 65" Oled TV. I also have very minor hand tremors in my right hand, it's minor and not all the time but can make using a mouse annoying when it occurs. It has no impact on a controller, as the contoller shakes, but not my camera or aim.

The only game I play on PC these days in Black Desert Online (and I use a controller) and the only reason for that is that they neglect the console version which is way behind in content compared to the PC version.

I used to mostly play on PS5 because I had friends there, but most stopped playing so I now play almost exclusively on Xbox due to longer battery life for the controller. It last me about 30 hours, and I have 3 batteries. On the PS5 I had 2 controller since launch both of which now last less than 45 minutes on a single charge, so I had to purchase a 3rd one which is getting expensive. I wish they went the same way as Xbox with replaceable batteries.

I forgot about Gran Turismo.

Outside of like 3 games, I would never buy another console. Maybe someday.

For years I have been playing on 43" Sony TVs as monitors sitting in a super comfy office chair in my office, sitting 3'ish away, one for work laptop/Gaming PC/Xbox, right next to another for my Playstation/mac/roku for straight up movie watching. Since I got my 7900XTX though I haven't really wanted to play anything on the consoles, its been PC uber alles. These are 2017 TVs so no 120Hz, no VRR, as most TVs in this size are budget models now and actual monitors in this size still leave something to be desired, either in inputs or features. Sony have a 2022 TV with the good stuff, 120Hz and VRR, but I just don't feel the need to upgrade. I got a 48" OLED and it looks great but I wouldn't want to work on it 10-12 hours a day and then flip over and game on it, so I put it on my daughter's desk in my office.

I have been in on every console for since the 360 and the PS2 but I am definitely out on the PS5 Pro and we'll see if the PS6 and if MS even has the will to compete any longer. Super sad day when every Western Institution (Japan included) is failing.

Gran Turismo’s cars are all non-binary. You’re a woke cuck basically.

I caved and pre-ordered a pro and a drive - fuck them for not even including that. I use my PS5 almost every day and I really love sofa gaming now. That being said, the PC still gets used quite a bit. Games like Baldur's Gate 3 are just a better experience on the PC.

PC gaming has long been held back by the limitations of Windows as its primary operating system. If PCs could break free from the need to run Windows, it would open the door to more innovative gaming experiences, such as dedicated Steam-based PCs and customizable, streamlined operating systems specifically tailored for gaming. This shift could lead to greater performance optimization, reduced system bloat, and creating new possibilities for custom gaming setups and competitive alternatives to traditional consoles.

dont think its a tech analysis yet but DF unboxing pro and confirming its specs. PS5 is 10.28 tflops by comparison. 61% GPU boost in theory, although i'm sure in reality it'll be way less

It could be that they are not allowed to post performance measurements prior to release, so prolly later this week.

I don't see a market for this PS5 Pro at all. I don't see any games now, or on the horizon that would warrant it.

As a matter of fact, the PS5 is probably my least played console since I got a NES in 86 or 87.

I bought it at the high of the covid hysteria when you couldn't find one except from a scalper. Paid $700 for it, and probably have less than 50 hours on it.

PS4 Pro as a percentage of all PS4s sold is around 12-13%. They are hoping to match that number for PS5s as a launch day prediction and in all likelihood the market penetration may not hit 10% in reality.

Invest in a PC, wait to see if PS6 even matters.
