Hypno is a super common defender here, I'll give it a shot. I'm pretty tired of hypno mirror matches with shadow ball dodging by now.

but for now I've dropped it at a remote gym (where it hatched, playmobil fun park), let's see how long it lasts. Someone dropped a 1400 cp Venusaur right on top of it after I've taken the gym - bastard couldn't be arsed to help kick out the 1900 vaporeon though.

What is the best current tool for scanning? I used pokevision a month back, but haven't used anything since.

Hypno is a decent budget defender since it's easy to evolve him and he gets stab with an unresistable damage type, but man his stats are mediocre as fuck.

Aerodactyl is just garbage though.

Holy crap. When I went to the pier in downtown Cleveland it's as if I entered the Konami Code into the game. I really wish I could have stayed longer but I was in work clothes and it was 96 degrees outside. I was melting. But in an hour I caught a bunch of Magikarp, and 6 Poliwags. It's definitely a Poliwag nest. They were constantly on my radar. I could easily have evolved my Poliwhirl into a Poliwarth if it wouldn't have meant my death to heat stroke.

Found another Dratini too. So I'm trucking along on those making slow but steady progress.

I'll definitely be going back when it's a bit cooler out.

His hps are above average, it's his offense and defense that are mediocre. He's basically an inferior Slowbro when it comes to gym defense, but more common. He's definitely quite good for how easy he is to evolve. Pidgeot is actually pretty good for how common it is too, it has good hps and a type advantage against grass, plus two of its three counters (rock and electric) are pretty weak in Go.

I did find an 89% lvl 29 hypno Monday, sadly it has psyshock.

What type of phone do you use? I use Pokealert for Android, otherwise I use the desktop map over on the pokemongodev subreddit to scan shit while I'm not out and looking for something. Not sure about iPhone but most folks around here use go radar, but it isn't reliable out of high traffic areas.

Pokealert and the desktop application both require creating PTC accounts and validating them / catching one pokemon with them. The more the better, with pokealert simply storing the login data for you, I have two dozen and can cover the entirety of downtown Houston in under two minutes.

Also WTB stardust, PST

pokeradar is pretty amazing if you live in a big enough city where enough other people are using it to populate the thing.

I use FastPokeMap. It's web based and similar to Pokevision. It's very hit or miss though. Sometimes it's quick and very responsive and other times it's frustratingly slow if it's not down entirely.

I use this as a backup for the rare times my nearby happens to reveal something ahead of my scanner -- great for quick on-demand scans like that. But yeah, the cooldown (and the fact that it seems 2x as long if you switch back to PoGO) makes it less than optimal for anything large-scale.

Meanwhile PokeAlert is alerting me to shit 17km away. Found a Chansey in La Porte even though I was directed there to find Porygon. Half the reason I use PokeAlert is because of it's fantastic background service / push notification capabilities, which either give a distinct double vibrate or loud ring if something of my choosing pops up.

Was literally about to head out of downtown last night when I felt the vibration and saw that second to lowest dragonite. Great Attack / Defense, shit stamina but I honestly don't care about stamina if it's something I'm going to attack with.

Found 3 Aerodactyls last night in 40 minutes, 2 from lures within 15m, two dratinis from lure one of which was 100% IV, a dragonair, a machoke, all sorts of shit and it was lasting for nearly the full 30 minutes of quality / non-trash spawns. Told the guys who dropped them they need to really remember what the fuck kind of voodoo shit they did before placing them down so we can recreate it in the future.

I love the slow dratini day in Japan with like 15 spawned at once. One at a time in my city and that's good for UK.

Yeah I have the desktop app but I haven't activated my extra accounts yet. How are you supposed to do this? Won't you get banned if you log into them on your own phone?

The fuck is going on in my neighborhood right now, exeggcutor, then find a porygon, then a snorlax and Dratini not ten minutes apart.

Had many of the initial ones banned, now unbanned, my account is fine. Click activation email from PTC, log in with account, go through the motions and catch a starter, then pop one of the default incense and catch another. Of the 30+ I've created, it was almost exclusively the first few I didn't do the additional incense catch with that ate it, all the others are fine.

Also, their shelf life will be much shorter if you use the desktop app and pokealert simultaneously as they're basically getting pulled for both and thus are basically warping / spoofing.

Edit: And if you're using PokeAlert in background mode, I hope you have a decent data limit associated with your mobile phone and are connected to wifi when possible / secure. Shit eats through data like you wouldnt believe due to all the geolocation calls. PokeAlert alone is up to nearly 1GB and I'm ~2/3 through this billing cycle.

Yeah I don't use pokealert, i just use the desktop app with a 3 radius search around my house. Would like to go back to searching the entire town, which only takes a 7 radius search centered downtown.

So got up early as fuck this morning and couldn't go back to sleep. Hop on the computer to piddle around, leave scanner running in background. Get notification ping. Random ass Dratini just chilling in the road two blocks away. Alrighty then. He appraises over 80% so I keep him to run his IVs when I get back home. Get home.

lvl 25, 97% IVs. Awww yiss. Saves 28 candy over powering up an egg hatched one.
