Just made a mass evolution for 56k exp

I finally evolved a Vaporeon... wow, it has twice the hitpoints of the other two eeveelutions? I guess that's where the OP is coming from

5 out of my top 9 pokemon is now Hypno. FMPokedex.

Also has much higher CP/level and has a very good tap attack and hydro pump is real good.

The higher CP is because of the higher HPs. All Eeveelutions have the same total stats in the handheld, 525. Vaporeon has a terrible speed which is nearly worthless in Go and high HPs which are incredible in Go. Jolteon has the exact same offensive stats as Vaporeon, but he has a really high speed and crappy hps. Flareon actually has better offensive stats than Vaporeon but has the same crappy hp problem. Umbreon (Gen 2) should be a good gym defender but after that there won't be another good Eeevelution until Sylveon (Gen 6).

My Eevee became a 90% level 22 Vapeoreon with Hydro Pump. It only needs 2 level ups to hit max level but I'm starved for Stardust. Worth it?

I should mention that I already have a totally maxed out Vaporeon with Hydro Pump at 90%. So this would be my second. I'd say it's worth it but will drop my dust very low.

Went to the Zoo Tiergarten Nürnberg today. Wow, uncommon stuff all over the place. Caught quite a few Dratini, saw the first Mankey ever, a poliwhirl, two clefairy, multiple goldeens, nidorans and eevees as well. Lots of pokemon players as well, the three gyms had quite the turnover.

The silly Kingler I put down here at one of the more remote gyms this morning is still in place, my new Vaporeon was kicked out three times even though the first time I trained another slot in an already rather strong gym and the other two times other bluebies filled out the spots when I took it back with even stronger mons.

Only thing that sucks about the zoo is that you're too slow to use incense, but you can't really use a lure either.

I went back to Voinovich Park this morning and spent a couple of hours there. The weather was much better so I was able to do a path along the pier several times. There were a LOT of people catching Pokemon too.

The highlight of the morning came when a Dragonair spawned. I heard a TON of people going "Oh my God!" as it popped up on radar and about 6 groups of people (myself included) all hauled ass to the spawn spot. It took me 25 raspberries, all of my Ultra Balls and about 10 Super Balls but I caught the bastard. It came back as "Caught my Attention." Based on the IV Calculator it looks like it's about 75%. I'm tempted to just level this guy up and save myself 25 Dratini Candies but we'll see what I catch along the way. Dratinis aren't super rare in Cleveland (being on the shores of Lake Erie and enough other parks nearby with lakes) but I have to go out of my way to visit these places so it's a longer term project of mine than someone like Chysamere Chysamere who simply has to open the game and have 4 Dragonites and a Snorlax outside his bedroom window.

In addition to my Dragonair I also found a Tentacruel "Your Pokemon isn't likely to make much headway in battle and should be dissected and studied as an example of what not to be as a Pokemon." I finally broke 300 Magikarp candies so I'm plugging away on a Gyrados. And I got enough candies to evolve a "Wonder" Poliwrath (Mud Shot and Submission sigh...). It also appears that the Cleveland Browns Stadium is a Drowzee nest. I walked by and all of a sudden my radar filled completely up with Drowzees. So the Browns Stadium is home to big, fat, sleepy Pokemons... Art imitating Life?

Oh and I caught a Cubone this morning as well. I had one run away from me the other day in the same spot and I had to leave before trying to get another one. Having that Shadow in my Pokedex was giving my OCD fits.

Thought I'd take a stab at a power up/keep/bank list for Go.

Power Up

Venusaur: Good on offense and defense. For offense you want vine whip/solar beam, for defense you want razor leaf and petal blizzard or sludge bomb

Wigglytuff: Good on offense and defense. You want pound/play rough for offense and defense, although hyper beam works too.

Poliwrath: Lousy offense, good defense. Bubble + any charge attack

Victreebell: Good on offense and defense. Razor leaf + any charge on defense, razor leaf + blade/beam on offense.

Slowbro: Ok on offense, good on offense. Confusion + psychic on defense, water gun + psychic on offense.

Exeggutor: Great on offense, good on defense. Confusion + psychic or seed bomb on defense, headbutt + psychic or solar beam on offense.

Lapras: Great on offense and defense. Frost shard on defense, frost breath on offense, anything but dragon pulse for charge move

Vaporeon: Good on offense and defense. Water pulse on defense, hydro pump on offense.

Snorlax: Good on offense, great on defense. Lick + beam/slam on offense, headbutt + beam/slam on defense.

Dragonite: Great on offense and defense. Steel wing/pulse on defense, breath/claw on offense.

Keep (but don't power up)

Blastoise - Pretty much just a weaker vaporeon, gains a mega evolution in gen 6

Clefable - Just a weaker wigglytuff but still usable

Vileplume - Slightly worse than both Venusaur and Victreebell, powering him up isn't a waste but isn't optimal

Arcanine - Best fire pokemon but fire types suck atm

Machamp - Counters Lapras and Snorlax but not very well. Keep if you get a chop/chop one.

Golem - Has some uses on offense against uncommon defenders

Dewgong - Decent Dragonite counter

Cloyster - Weak Dragonite counter

Scyther - Decent Exeggutor counter, gains evolution in Gen 2 then mega evolution in gen 6

Pinsir - Decent Exeggutor counter, gains mega evolution in gen 6

Gyarados - Crappy vaporeon, gains mega evolution in gen 6

Jolteon - Maybe they'll change the CP formula so that Jolteon stops sucking

Flareon - See Jolteon

Porygon - Gains evolutions in Gen 2 and Gen 4

Omastar - surprisingly decent gym defender despite the double grass weakness. Water gun/rock slide

Bank

Charizard - Gains mega evolution in gen 6

Beeddrill - Gains mega evolution in gen 6

Pidgeot - Gains mega evolution in gen 6

Golbat - Gains evolution in gen 2

Alakazam - Gains mega evolution in gen 6

Magneton - Gains evolution in gen 4

Gengar - Gains mega evolution in gen 6

Onix - Gains evolution in gen 2 and mega evolution in gen 6

Lickitung - Gains evolution in gen 4

Rhydon - Gains evolution in gen 4

Chansey - Gains evolution in gen 2

Tangela - Gains evolution in gen 4

Kangaskhan - Gains mega evolution in gen 6

Seadra - Gains evolution in gen 2

Electabuzz - Gains evolution in gen 4

Magmar - Gains evolution in gen 4

Eevee - Gains a new evolution every gen and unevolved Eevees will get harder and harder to catch, so consider banking a bunch of crappy ones just to fill your pokedex.

Aerodactyl - Gains mega evolution in gen 6

Losing motivation. Was supposed to go to Odaiba today but blew it off to sit at home and watch anime.

I think mostly I'm waiting for the patch. But I'm ready for Gen 2, even if it won't come out for months. If I catch a Lapras tomorrow I think my motivation is going to evaporate seeing as stardust is such a barrier to continually powering up strong pokemon and farming stardust is the most monotonous thing in the world.

Maybe I'll aim for level 30 then start taking it a bit slower?

Never seen a Dragonite on radar or in the game. Seen Snorlax twice, caught them both, both were shithouse. I almost never catch rare pokemon, I've ground up every single one the hard way.

There are a shitload of nests and Dratinis around though, that's for sure.

Has anyone else see some 30 minute spawns popping up? Look at the Exeggcute in the top right.

The Japanese says despawning in 28 minutes and 21 seconds.

Bulbasaur toward the middle too. Light blue.

Funny, I just went after my third Snorlax in 2 days, although this one was both low level AND ran after the first ball heh.

Just evolved a lvl 28 85% Vaporeon with hydro pump. Awwww yeah.

Snorlax spawn with 30 minutes on the clock. I could learn to like this new 30 minute spawn thing.

Trainers,

Pokémon GO is in the process of being updated to version 0.37.0 for Android and 1.7.0 for iOS devices. Below are some release notes and comments from our development team.

  • Implemented Buddy Pokémon: Trainers will now be able to choose one of their Pokémon to be their buddy. A Trainer can earn - Candy for their Buddy Pokémon by walking a certain distance.
  • Made it easier to select smaller Pokémon on the screen.
  • Fixed an issue where Eggs would sometimes hatch without displaying the animation.
  • Improved performance reliability when a device switches networks to no longer cause the application to hang or stop updating.
  • Pokémon GO Plus support
  • Minor text fixes.
We continue to focus on eliminating bots and scrapers from Pokémon GO. Rooted or jailbroken devices are not supported by Pokémon GO. Remember to download Pokémon GO from the official Google Play Store or iTunes App Store only.
