This is terrible advice and the gay scene is completely different anyway.

Men looking for women should not put video gaming or any of that other shit you listed. A woman doesn't want someone who's going to sit around playing fucking video games all day. We do shit like day drink, play video games and jack off hourly because we are single. If you like someone and start dating that person you give that up and start acting like a real human being.

Terrible advice? I didn't say to put it as your only thing, I said be honest, if you're into games put those too; You rather find a girl that lets you play games (or joins you) given that it IS a part of your life, or a girl who realizes you play games and gives you hell for it?

To come back on the difference between sites. A others already said it's largely regional which is going to be most popular. Something i noticed tho is often the people who are on pay sites also have an account on the free place. I bothered with pay sites only a couple months total but noticed the reply rate was much higher there. My guess is due to volume of traffic. My messages would get lost in the crowd on the free site but would actually be seen on the pay site since there just isn't as many people there.

I dug up some pictures, I had my assistant at work write up a couple of different profile deals and I vetod some. I didn't have her lie but she ws much more excited about doing it than I was and she had looked at a bunch of pofils lately for men. I really got stumped on the hobby part. I have some hobbies I really enjoy but I'm not sure they belong on a dating site and would be totally boring to 99.9999% of the opposite sex. I'm a pretty boring person by a big margin.

I'm about to move so the whole thing is on hold for a while, to small town. The number of people in my age bracket that are single is going to shrink to about none.

She got a little too excited making some profiles so I had to threaten her with possible firing if she posted any without my consent.

I'm going to run with it and see what it drags up since I'm now in the process of moving, will be a good way to see what it actually attracts. After I move if it works I can run it again. Most likely won't have to as I'll be in an environment more conducive to networking for me.

I also write in a very no frills technical manner and have for 25 years.

No argument here. Haven't been on a first date in 20 years. From the sounds of people I work with who got married I didn't miss much and I sure didn't want to take their advice to help me write a profile unless I wanted someone that would destroy my life part by part.

My ex girlfriend of almost 20 years volunteered to write one for me as well lol. She got a job offer in another town I had no desire to move to. All I heard for 6 months was how great it was going to be that she was making 5x what she used to be and all the things she could there. Now all I hear about is how fucking expensive everything is and how broke she is all the time. No shit? I mean she wanted to move and live like her sister. Well I've been to her sisters house. She married a guy who made a shitload early on in Dell and I looked up how much the houses on the same street were selling for. It's hard to buy a $16m house on a librarians pay.

So I passed on the offer to let her write me a profile.

This has really gotten off tangent. But she only recently returned home because I got sick, partially paralyzed and a host of other stuff this year and she volunteered to come help take care of me to ease the burden on my parents. But now I'm cured.

Sorry I brought it up lol.

After I move I'll get more serious in writing a profile. Small town which may/may not have more women my speed. Also a college if I really want someone half my age.
