I don't know why he's over thinking it. You're allowed to have profiles on various sites. The #1 rule of online dating is you need to cast the widest net. So sign up for the major free sites and possibly hand-select some paid ones. When I was single I had a PoF, Match, eHarmony. Of the three for me it went PoF > Match >>>> eHarmony. Probably want to for sure set up an OKC these days, though.

Just joking about how most of the forum seems to be in the 80k/year or above bracket. In the upper brackets it might make more sense to do pay for sites but for plebs like me, free sites were the way to go.
80k would put you in the top 31%

just saying

No I was just curious. I suppose you could probably look up for people filing as single status instead of joint and separate but married filings.

That would skew way off because you'd be eliminating all people filing as married together.

Yeah but in the context fifey is referring to he is a single unmarried. I'd be interested in what a single unmarried making 80k would put him. I'm sure it would be way more narrow than 31%.

Income Breaks, 2011

If you count only the single filers, in 2011 that would have been like 94th percentile I guess? But I'm not sure how meaningful that is. I'd make just as much if I got divorced as I do now. But of the 80 lawyers in my office like 78 of them are married.

Yeah but your household income would be less. I assume even married filing jointly get aggregated up to produce a household income report?

There's so much jelly on the toast of this forum about income. Very few people here actually announce what they make you're all just projecting that "everyone here seems to be a baller" line. Forgetting there are a shitload of posters who never talk about it.

Anyway Tenks is right about eHarmony. That site is absolute shit. You can't search for anyone, they give a limited amount of matches a day and those are the only ones you see and can communicate with. Which wouldn't be so bad if they didn't completely ignore all of your preferences and just send whoever the fuck they want as a match anyway. 90% of the matches I would receive from them would either have no picture or be fat as shit. Worthless site.

PoF, OKC and Match all seemed the same to me in my area though.

You bros must never of heard about hyperbole. I just assume everyone's a millionaire banging super models.

I just brought it up because at least in the portland area girls on Okc, PoF or tinder are all usually sub 30k a year from my experience so for some that's a deal breaker. I can't tell you how many hairdressers I talked too on my time there.

Yeah, sometimes I feel like I'm the only on on these forums that makes under 70k a year. LoL

I had better luck on OKC and it'll be my go to again when I'm ready for that.

My wife makes like 1/5th what I do though, it's pretty meaningless.

I think the household income just aggregates all filers together whether they are joint or not and calls each filer a "household"

I hear there's a big market for American husbands in the Philippines.

I'm no eHarmony white knight, but I think your experience with eHarmony probably goes back to a location issue. I used it for quite some time and they never ignored my preferences, and the vast majority of people matched to me had pictures and were responsive.

I think that is true for every dating website: for every person who tried one site and hated it for some reason, there's another person who tried it and liked it for the same reason. You really just have to try the various sites for yourself to see which ones are popular in your area and which "style" you like more (for example, I like how passive eHarmony is).

Like a few other people have said, it's all a numbers game, so try as many as you have time for/can afford.

I experimented with showing and not showing income when I messed around on these sites, I really didn't notice a difference, but I used my occupation as bait by being vague but still projecting I had a respectable career.

A lot of the girls would want a college degree tho, that seemed to be a bigger deal breaker than income.

I think I posted this before but try not to be so outcome dependent on these sites, the girls are just all over the place. I've gone on dates with girls that I wasn't even attracted to but tried to be open minded about and they would end up giving me radio silence. I'd meet a super hot girl a few weeks later and things would click, it's so hard to gauge what is really going on. Not sure about you guys but I was most successful offline, out in the real world. I met my girlfriend like that and she's probably one of the hottest girls I've ever dated.. A few weeks before that I got flaked on by some average girl, online. Moral of the story, don't take shit personal and don't limit yourself to just online.

I was on it for 6 months. I even called and lodged a complaint. When I asked them why they were sending a paid subscriber profiles of women who were clearly not subscribers they said "Well you can't say that for certain just because they don't have a picture and haven't filled any information out. Try messaging them and see if they respond". Seems like they know exactly what they are doing. Trying to get unsubscribed people to subscribe by flooding their inboxes with messages to pique their curiosity.

I think I've mentioned before that I met my wife on plenty of fish. The funny part of that is that we were both on Eharmoney, but they never matched us. In fact, she sounded like you khane. She said they kept sending her shit matches. We believe it's because she was too picky and didn't seem to know what she wanted. That might be the case with you. I can't fault them for making their best guesses on a difficult match. It just means EH isn't right for you.

I signed up for Eharmony about four months ago and my experience was similar. Got awful matches that didn't match my preferences, and after three weeks my account somehow got hacked despite a crazy password and a clean computer. It must have been something on their end since nothing else of mine was compromised and I was in Canada dealing with my father's funeral when I started getting tons of communication emails from chicks in their 50's. I knew something was obviously screwed up but honestly didn't give a shit at the time since I was dealing with grief and funeral arrangements. By the time I had decided to take a look on my flight back to Dallas, someone had changed my preferences to "Pentecostal" looking for women between the ages of 50-60. A day later I got the "my account has been banned due to inappropriate activity" which I took as a blessing that saved me the hassle of cancelling on my own.

From a technical aspect, as well as price/value Okcupid is by far the best. Their questions are extensive and detailed and you can get really refined in your search if you want. The only problem with OKCupid in my area is that it seems to attract a lot of hipster and white trash types over professionals. Match.com seems to have the highest quality women, but their matching system and questions are very limited in comparison.
