If something is by far the best, how can there be a close second? The best game on 32X was NBA Jam by far. Kolibri is a close second.
Ok so maybe "similar" was a bad way to describe it. But I loved the game, and it was pretty amazing for the time and for the genesis. On top of that I remember being the popular kid for a while just for owning it.It was very similar to the arcade version?!? Are you kidding me??? That's laughable!!! It was NOTHING like the arcade. Shitty graphics, shitty sound, shitty controls, shitty everything. Super FX chip was way more impressive in my opinion.

I had to google Kolibri because I never heard of the game before (for those wondering, it's an exploration/shooter thing made exclusively for the 32X by the people responsible for Ecco the Dolphin where you play a hummingbird) and had to share this youTube comment: "Quite possibly the greatest hummingbird-based shooter? on the 32X." - XenoShinobiKolibri is a close second.
That's not emblematic at all considering Prince of Persia was an American game first and that SNES art is the same art used for the Apple IIe box. The Japanese version is the redrawn one.The intro to Ys sold many PC Engine CD-ROM? back in the import days!
Anyway, for me the most emblematic cover discrepancy is for Prince of Persia for SFC / SNES:
That's a Penny-Arcade quote from 2001:I had to google Kolibri because I never heard of the game before (for those wondering, it's an exploration/shooter thing made exclusively for the 32X by the people responsible for Ecco the Dolphin where you play a hummingbird) and had to share this youTube comment: "Quite possibly the greatest hummingbird-based shooter? on the 32X." - XenoShinobi
That said, the game has very impressive visuals for a 2D Genesis game (usually known for it's eye-melting use of patterns to hide the lack of colors in its palette), but it also had the weirdest layered scrolling.
I don't remember Kolibri at all. Weird.
Every 32X game I bought came straight out of the bargain bin. I think the most that I ever bought one for was $20 for Doom.Because the 32X was already DEAD when it came out.
