There are a lot of reasons to shit on Hodj but his desire to better himself through education is not one of them. People wishing to learn more about the universe that surrounds us, be it through history, sciences or mathematics, should be applauded, not ridiculed. Cut it the fuck out unless your dream is a world full of merlins and rhumas.
Z's just angsty about that neg the other day. I don't take his criticism seriously. He's just slinging mud hoping some of it gets on me.

The only thing learned in this thread is that when Hodj posts that he is done posting in a thread, expect the rate at which he posts to fucking triple.

No shit.

Although I think my greater point at that moment was that I was done arguing with Cad and you at that point in time, because both of you were being pretty randy. I guess I could have shawed the thread, but then people would whine about that.

I never argued with you, In fact I never even posted my opinion on the subject. I simply was laughing at you and you went full Kentucky

Well, whatever. Argue, take unfair shots, however you want to define it. I just think the whole running to me being made a mod thing, when I'm really trying to be a good mod, is just sorta a sign that the thread is going off the rails, and you guys are right about the last word stuff that I do and needing to cut it out, so I was trying to. Its sort damned if you do damned if you don't at a certain point.

For the record I don't dislike you or Cad at all. Or Z.

You need to lighten up. Have Good night. This is my last post in this thread.

No one would whine if you shawed yourself. Just throwing that out there.

The hard sciences didn't fossilize bone. The hard sciences give us explanatory models for how fossilization occurs.

kek.
I'm saying that the 'hard sciences' aka engineering (you put it in with hard science, not me!) gave us stone tools. Social sciences are jerking off over it millions of years later.

Ah I see.

Yeah stone tool making is one of the core parts of human evolution, so its definitely one major area of research, and has been for decades. Its the first real application of the scientific process, definitely an early form of engineering. I dunno if its jerking off over it, to study it, but it does seem to have a lot of potential in neurological studies to help demonstrate one of the driving forces behind larger brain development.

The coolest part of stone tool making, to me, is just how far back in our evolutionary lineage it goes. At least 1.5 million years, to homo habilis (possibly further to australopithecines, though their tools were less complex), whose brain size was less than half our own. Lot of current research the past decade or so on how this may have helped drive brain development, from giving homo habilis better access to higher quality foods when foraging (more fatty acids during development = gradual increases in brain size over generations), to helping develop language and culture through transmission from one generation to the next.

Flint knapping and lithics are the shit.

If you want I can send you a copy of what I do today so you can make specious arguments as to the nature of my brain chemistry based on circumstantial and untestable evidence!

Its testable nowadays with neural imaging scanning while people actually engage in making stone tools. Turns out the same areas of the brain responsible for language activate while producing stone tools, to some extent.

Language and tool-making skills evolved at the same time -- ScienceDaily

Language and toolmaking evolved together, say researchers | Science | The Guardian

There's probably some debate about how much we can extrapolate that data backwards in time, though, I'd agree with that. But we can look at correlations between increasing cranial capacity and changes in tool shaping techniques over time as well, in light of the modern evidence, and sorta put two and two together.

Mayday is coming up. I think we need to shaw all the people. Everyone.

Too much work to shaw everyone.

I'll let Tuco handle that one.

I didn't read this thread through, but my position on ethics in science is this: We need a strong ethical backdrop to science, since science should serve humanity, not the other way around. This is especially true when it comes to science that directly affects humans and human society. We need to proceed with caution and not rush headlong into things.

Having said that, there is one exception. I want my fast-bred, 20 year old, twin Scarlett Johanson clones, genetically modified to be bisexual nymphomaniacs and to have the burning desire to cater to my every sexual whim, and I want them now, god damn it! I can't wait for some stupid "ethics comity" to green light this shit! Where's a decent mad scientist when you need one? I need a fap!

Now we just need to figure out why you can't win a debate on the substance, when your entire career is supposed to be about doing just that.

I'd say I feel bad for your clients but nah.

They get the product that they pay for.
