And yet you declared that we could survive a 5 to 10 degree climate temperature increase, and that was your original claim, and the claim I've been rebutting and trying to explain to you this entire time is retarded as fuck, for this exact reason.

So you admit that your claim that a 5 to 10 degree climate increase would be a fatal situation for human life, yes?
Never made a claim on that either way. I said we'd be last. I said we'd survive anything that life on earth does.

So I rest my case. I was right, you were wrong, and you are now forced to admit it. You've tried to goal post shift down to 2 degrees, claiming I said a 2 degree change would lead to extinction, which I never did, and if you'd like to cite where I said a 2 degree increase woul definitely lead to extinction, please, by all means, do so. Because I never claimed that. I claimed that is the accepted threshold beyond which thar be dragons we cannot predict, and the further past that we go, the more untenable our life becomes.
I never claimed any specific degrees, you goofy idiot.

I never gave any specific degrees that we could survive in any way.
The only thing that would be in jeopardy would be our current standard of living/luxuries.The idea that the temperature goes up 5-10 degrees and we go extinct is ludicrous. We might all need to move to canada and our population might decrease but the idea that we are ALL going to die is just asinine.

I believe 17 hodj posts ago...
I'm sorry, but this cracked me up. It's like a new metric!

"Yeah, but what is that in hodj posts?"

Does it.measure time or distance? Is it greater than or less than a light year or do we measure it in meters per second per second?

LOL. I thought it was obvious what tech I was refering to. I need to fucking citation things that turn saltwater into fresh? Well at least you understood my cryptic writings.
hodj sees what he wants to see when we write. It's like we're talking to a female here. We're going to have to have testicle-check at the fucking door.

Eh. Maybe. If it's fire and brimstone and flammable clouds of methane at 10 degrees, then that scours the earth and yea, we wouldn't survive. But thats not been what I've been saying the whole time. I'm sure I mistakenly replied to some bullshit you posted.

Oh no, I don't see "what I want to see"

Your claim

We might all need to move to canada and our population might decrease but the idea that we are ALL going to die is just asinine.
"The idea that the temperature increases 5-10 degrees and we just all die is LUDICROUS."

LUDICROUS.

Oceans are expelling hydrogen sulfide and the atmosphere is on LITERAL FIRE at 6 degrees higher global temperatures, and we can just "move to Canada and maybe our population decreases" but we all die?

THE MERE IDEA IS LUDICROUS!

LUDICROUS.

Eh. Maybe. If it's fire and brimstone and flammable clouds of methane at 10 degrees
No, no no. That's at a mere 6 degree increase.

Scientists don't even BOTHER CONSIDERING A 10 DEGREE INCREASE FOR A REASON

I'm sure I mistakenly replied to some bullshit you posted.
No, no no. This was your ORIGINAL CLAIM.

So you are WRONG, and I am RIGHT, and all your horselaugh fallacies and other bullshit is exactly what I said it is. You arguing from your ignorance. You don't get to shift this off on me.

You lost, you were wrong.

Its time to cough it up.

All those pages of trying to bag on me were you being a massive faggot becauseyou were wrongandhad no cogent rebuttals to this reality.

If you'd like to cite what "bullshit" of mine you think you were replying to, please, by all means.

Pfft. If I said 5 degrees F of climate change, thats nothing. Thats less than 3 degrees C of change.

So.

The absolute only things we ever measure in US standards is building foundations when excavating in historic archaeology, because those are the measurements used by the people building the buildings.

Even then we convert it to metric afterwards.

US standards are imprecise shit.

US distances are retarded. US volumes make sense.

128 ounces in a gallon
64 ounces in a half gallon
32 ounces in a quart
8 ounces in a cup
1/2 an ounce in a tablespoon

US weights are okay but not spectacular.

I will throw you a bone hodj and say we were probably talking past each other due to the units thing. I well know 5-10C would be a lot, I didn't even think about it and thought F, but whatever, that wasn't really the thrust of my argument in any case. My main point was just that we would be among the last to die due to our ability to adapt via technology as well as by biology.

So to the extent you were just arguing the 10C thing, that's fine. I think you're kind of latching on to that as an out, but I'll give it to you.

We were arguing past each other, but I didn't latch on to anything as an out, dude. My entire discussion with you began with you making that statement and me trying to explain to you that at 2 degrees, we've hit a threshold, beyond which radical and rapid environmental changes will progressively occur that make all life untenable, leading to collapsing ecologies across the globe, ecologies that we rely on to survive.

Whether we'd be first or last, or somewhere in the middle is fine, if you want to try and prognosticate that, that's fine, but at some point, and that point is relatively lower than a 10 degree increase, most all life is going to become untenable, and that was my point. You can't technology yourself out of everything. We must not engage in that degree of hubris, because it is a fatal degree of human arrogance to believe that just any problem that comes along we'll be fortunate enough that the right person with the right resources, intelligence and understanding will arrive on the scene to save us.

And when you stand on solid ground, and the world demands you move, you must look them in the eye and declare "No, you move." That's how I feel about these sorts of issues.

The reason I get frustrated sometimes is because I actually do give a shit about issues like this. I am not afraid to admit that shit. I've spent fully almost half my life now intensely studying religion and science. I do that because I want to understand reality as it actually exists. I want to believe as many true things as possible, and disbelieve as many untrue things as possible, and, just as importantly, I really truly feel that our world is better off when other people care about facts and truth and making sure their beliefs are as consistent with them as possible. That's just who I am bro.

It was a fun debate. Jimmies getting rustled is always entertaining and it doesn't bother me when people get a kick out of my jimmies getting rustled in the same way I get a kick out of other people's jimmies getting rustled. I enjoyed it. I'm just glad we're able to conclude with a better understanding of the issues at hand being reached, honestly.

I wasn't really intending to give any particular degrees that's survivable or not because it really depends. I think we have pretty amazing means to survive but I don't know if that includes methane clouds of fire and brimstone.

And for the record I'm completely amazed most people in the world don't seem to care that we still use coal power plants and shit when clean nuclear options are available.

I'm with you on this I think. Human adaptability is what has gotten us to where we are today. If conditions persist anywhere on Earth that supports life, we will find a way to utilize it in some capacity.

Unless of course there is a sudden and dramatic event that leaves us no time to adapt through technology.
