WH40K and Armored Core eps are the best of the bunch, but the rest are worth a watch.

I wasn't really feeling the band of heroes in the D&D episode, but I thought the dwarf monk was a bold move.
There was a dwarf monk in one of the Neverwinter Night DLC's , cannot remember if it was the 1st or 2nd NWN. He was a pretty decent char as I recall. So far all I've seen is the DND one. I'll marathon them tomorrow morning.

Note that they've only released 8 out of 15 episodes - looks like the rest come out on the 17th.

I'm whelmed so far - a lot of these feel like "Hey, E3 isn't a thing anymore, but instead of three minute trailers that stealthily suggest gameplay mechanics through ambiance, we just summarize the whole game in six minutes."

It's also weird how so many of these are explicitly based on the mechanics of video games, whether its respawning, or a mulitplayer team getting its members killed off.

Speaking of explicitly video game, for nearly all of these, the less dialogue, the better, unless the episode was intentionally written for its dialogue first (New World).

And I think... I actually lean towards Unreal Tournament as my favorite, as it combines nostalgia ("Head shot") but also extends the game into a compelling (albeit well covered) narrative.

Though I have to give points to Pac-Man for stretching its concept, even if I didn't like the result much.

Thanks for pointing that out Wombat Wombat , I thought this was all of them.

Just watched Warhammer, not into that game so not sure exactly what I was watching but it looked really bad ass. I'm on my 32" 4K monitor tonight but tomorrow I'm definitely watching it on the 75" in the living room.

The Warhammer episode stood out to me as the most technically impressive in terms of CGI, with Armored Core as the runner-up. Meanwhile, New World was the most entertaining.

My problem with the WH40K episode is the general structure, art design, character movement, etc. is so similar to Astartes (, if you somehow aren't familiar) that it loses points for me.

Syama Pedersen does have a credit in the episode (as one of 10 layout artists), so it can't be a ripoff... but it does feel like a rehash.

Ah, I completely missed that Syama Pedersen was attached to WH40K. That explains why it had something familiar about it. Astartes was, like, four years ago, and then he got scooped up by GW. He is freelance now, and Digital Bones is his studio. One of his most recent work is HUXLEY. The guy is just pure talent.

I don't give a fuck about any of these games, so watched the WH40K and D&D shorts on IP alone. Both of them were decent, with WH40K being the best of the two. Then watched the New World short; it had Arnold and the Atlantean Sword in it, which was funny, but that novelty wore off quickly, so meh. Doesn't sound like the rest are worth watching unless you like the games.

I really like the movement. Decades to centuries of training makes them efficient and deliberate in all their movements, and in combat they move and react so fast that it looks unnatural that something that big can be a blur. Canonically able to run at 60mph also.

And they are still not as fast as Custodes or Eldar.

This depiction of 40k is the best I've ever seen in the past 30 years. The scale of the narrative universe (the Ultramarine Battle Barge, for instance) and the absolutely overwhelming power of a space marine.

My only gripe is the actual story; there is a 00000.0000000000% chance they would send a Company Lieutenant and a 4 man squad to their "guaranteed" deaths.

That's not true, most space marine deployments include a primarch, captain and lieutenant. In fact it's rare to see more than 15 intercessors at once.

I thought the Warhammer episode was the best. I know very little about warhammer specifics though, sounds like you guys do, someone please explain what I just watched. Were the Madmax grunge cyclist gangs up top related somehow to the Lilith demon race down below? Was the demon lady with the arms coming out her back freezing time or was she actually moving so fast it made the marines look slow? It was all badass I just had no idea what was going on.

I actually liked the Pac Man one

Pac Man being some imprisoned eldritch horror was a cool concept
