I thought the Warhammer episode was the best. I know very little about warhammer specifics though, sounds like you guys do, someone please explain what I just watched. Were the Madmax grunge cyclist gangs up top related somehow to the Lilith demon race down below? Was the demon lady with the arms coming out her back freezing time or was she actually moving so fast it made the marines look slow? It was all badass I just had no idea what was going on.
This guy breaks it all down and explains what is going on. I figured there was a lot of lore in 40K but holy fuck. The explanation for what we were watching takes longer than the actual show.

Personally, I think they could make a D&D genre out of this.

Just make a party / year, and have them go on some adventure. And have these guys develop it.

Sidebar on 40K generally - I always loved the art but had no idea there was so much depth to the universe. I started watching this guys videos breaking it all down. Holy shit talk about a rabbit hole that can suck you in.

TITUS

This looks like it was set after the 2nd WH40k-SM game. So cool.

This show is pretty great. Not a single bad episode imo. New World one was the most enjoyable for me, very comical.
40k was about what I expected and despite that I still had a huge grin on my face the whole time because watching space marines be badasses never gets old.
Pacman one was lol, did not see that coming!

I downloaded 6 gigs worth of old 40K manuals and have spent the past 40 hours reading them. Loved the show so much I decided to make a video about:

"What could a soul like that be capable of?"

He could look his creators in the eye and without hesitation say "There are no female custodians"

I enjoyed this series. At minimum, I thought it was just a great demonstration of continued CGI progress. In particular I was rather impressed with the Crossfire episode. This really conquered the uncanny valley. We have certainly come a long way. Overall I liked how short and to the point they were. I'm in for 10 - 20 minute episodes as a way to kill a bit of time.

The Pac-Man episode caught me off guard, that was great. Clearly enjoyed the Warhammer episode coming from that IP in my youth. Seeing these come to life is quite fun as technology improves and does it justice.

The only negative I would agree with from some critics is that the episodes did feel 'empty'. They were showcases and / or quick hitters without huge substance, just enough to give a taste. However, that was kind of the point of this series. There is only so much you can do in that amount of time.

I am definitely looking forward to the next batch.

I don't really have any complaints so far....but it's not nearly as good as death, love and robots. The stories in DLR were just so much better. Both are showcases of impressive cgi, but DLR is much better overall imo.

I agree, but that's pretty much the nature of the beast - the robot ones were animating successful published short stories, the secret level ones actually have to come up with a story themselves.

End of new world episode made me laugh. Soon as I saw the thing he created I said "they wouldn't..." and they did the meme.

Second half is out.

No surprise Outer Worlds has some of the best writing of the series - I could see it being a real episode of L, D, & R. It may just be my unfamiliarity with most of those titles, but I found most of the rest pretty forgettable - I think I'd actually put Concord in second for the back half.

Speaking of unfamiliar, I don't get how Exodus worked? Why would the dad have greater time dilation than the daughter if he followed the same route? The best I can come up with was the daughter had a 'faster' FTL driver than the father and arrived at the next destination sooner (less experienced transit time), but _lived_ far longer at each stop than the father.

Finished up the second half and it was ok. I think it suffered from some expectation built from the first half. It could just be me though as I didn't connect with the IP in most of latter episodes. They were still neat / fun in general.

I did find the using augmented reality to gamify Amazon delivery drivers with power ups and skins to be solid. Seems like something that would actually happen.

That is my take as well. I just presumed that the father lived the majority of his life near light speed while searching and the daughter lived her life at each stop for years at a time.

My stumbling block of was the Honor of Kings. This was a pretty episode that had cool things happening. Why were they cool? Did they make sense? I couldn't tell you.

First half was better than the second half but still enjoyable. The D&D and 40k episodes were definitely the best. They should just make a show of those. But glad to see this got renewed for a season 2.

I want an actual Helldivers short in season 2.

Other good options:

Baldurs Gate 3 (Larian has released shorts before that have been pretty funny)

Elden Ring/Dark Souls

Ark

something Atari era like Qbert, Dig Dug, Defender, etc

There should be one for Myst. Adventure (2600) to fuck with the Ready Player One types. Mass Effect could be amazeballs.
