primetime it's even worse, for me like don't even bother to work is primetime for me.

it's stupid that there is obv, a problem and AT&T won't even properly look into it =/ (most of the people who live on the same block as me have the same problem, and some of them are on a different PBX)

Because I was bored (and there's isn't much to be proud about around here) here's my test on the same server.

Got an e-mail from Cox yesterday saying that they will be upgrading my 50Mbps connection to 100Mbps for free in the next 3 weeks. I'm pumped.

Time Warner Cable did that about 6 months ago(bumped everyone up to the next speed tier for free), and now just raised their rates on all the plans. I went from 25mbps to 50mbps, but now they just jacked me up an additional $10 a month. Fuckers.

They were going to do that anyway. Be thankful you got a gratis reach around before bending you over.

My bill went up $12 in September with no speed increase. 2 days later, the fuckers had the nerve to send an email saying the could have raised it higher, but didn't, so look at all this money you're "saving".

And what they don't tell you, is that by not responding to that letter, you have accepted your enrollment into a 1-year contract with TWC in order to receive that rate. You cancel in the next year and you're likely to get hit with some extra fees. I got that same letter, and TWC was going to knock my price down to $59.99 from $64.99(whereas it used to be $49.99), I called up and told them not to, since Google Fiber is building out around me. I don't think Google will be to my area within the next year, but I didn't want to take the chance of being stuck with TWC for one day longer than I have to.

Yeah, I don't think Google or even any major competitor is coming to Ithaca, NY before I die. Or move away, whatever. It could be a 30 year contract like my mortgage, not one fucking difference.

Free market my ass.

Call and bitch. I used to have to go through it every couple of months when they ninja raised the price. Say you're going to go to another provider and they'll keep your price the same for the next couple months. Went through three years paying the same, including their free upgrades

Just curious since I live in the land of shit internet. Will 100Mbps make any noticeable difference vs. 50Mbps? When I last lived in civilization I had 20Mbps and I never felt like I was utilizing it much. That was before HD netflix, but on several occasions I would stream like 9 videos at once just because I could. Is there anything these days that makes 50Mbps seem too slow?

And just because I can't end this post without whining about my internet for the 100th time, I am paying $79.99 a month for 3 Mbps with a 17 gig download cap over a 30 day rolling window, so I don't feel sorry for you fuckers going from $50 to $60 a month for real broadband at all.

You're not intending to shill so you're shilling?

Please edit out your shill. It's fine to offer advice, I and others do the same who are in the industry but we aren't here to try to sell or to shill.

Why not get Hughes Net? For the same price you can get 10Mbps and have a 30gb limit.
Their 10Mb service is not available here. I was going to switch to them until I found that out. 15 gigs is only available in the middle of the night also, so it's actually less unless I want to schedule things to DL at 2 AM. Wild Blue also has a faster service called Exede that has unlimited downloads between like 1 and 5 AM but that is also not available to me.

Speed isn't really the issue. With the download caps being so low, anything that requires more than 3Mb will kill the cap way to fast to be practical.
