Its quality is still top notch. It is not in a hurry and lets you live in the world.

S2 opener was pretty good. Agree with others, is one of the most immersive shows right now.

The first episode was 'fine' for me. I was hoping for a bit more story unfolding than it did, perhaps I wasn't paying enough attention. Seemed to be a little bit of history, a little bit of back story, and a lot of tinkering and showing she is adept at things. Good atmosphere, nice ending, I'm sure it will pick up.

I hope it doesn't pick up steam. The slow pace of S1 was key to how enjoyable it was for me. Gives time to live with the well written 3d characters and the immersive setting.

Reminding everyone that if they can't wait week to week the books are good.
I enjoyed the first season and wanted to know more, so I did buy and read all the books. Spoiled the hell out of my future watching the show but I don't regret it. Good reads.

Never read the books but from the TV show there is an obvious racist under tone that hasn't been mentioned.

If the govt decides who can mate and in hundreds of years the entire population isn't mocha brown they have obviously been very stringent on race mixing.

I love that in a sci-fi dystopian world where humans live under strict authoritarian rule and have very little individual rights, to the point where if you break the rules you get sent out to die and anyone and everyone can come watch, you're like "hrmm, ya know, why isn't everyone some shade of brown?"

The shows strong parallels to living on a remote island full of browns surrounded by ocean in ever direction and ruled by a one party government make you ask these obvious questions.

They really should've done a split of episodes one and two. At least then you don't blue ball your audience who just had a cliffhanger in the first episode and wants to see more of that. Instead we got a bunch of people no one gives a shit about playing pretend uprising in a doomed silo.

There's probably going to be a lot of cliffhangers in this series until the show reaches the third book. This is a very slow burn and it will probably be excruciating for show watchers that haven't read the books.

I just meant they set up something interesting that picked up on the season one finale with the other silo. And then episode two you get literally none of it.

Well, I dont want to constantly be one of those "in the books!" Posters. But this is probably going to happen fairly often, however each different storyline was very interesting in the books, and hopefully will be in the show as well.

And that works well for books. A Song of Ice and Fire did that throughout where it was from character perspectives.

But then you interweave those stories when you adapt it for television because it works on that medium.

There's no reason they can't bounce between the two stories for the show.

It's not a big deal. But the first episode I was captivated (even through boring montages of her building a bridge). The second episode I was like, why the fuck do I care about any of these assholes? Maybe part of it is that every character they focused on in the 2nd episode, outside of the old tinkerer lady, is basically unrelatable and shallow.

Interesting use of Red Rain by Peter Gabriel.

They’ve really destroyed the sense of scale of the Silo having gender swapped Walker show up on like level 2 just to spray a fire hose, be back in mechanical the next scene, then be arrested and BACK on level 2 in jail. Plus him leaving mechanical was a huge plot point in the books.

I was fine where season 1 ended despite the changes. Season 2 is starting off the rails. They may eventually get to the same point.

Pretty sure the jail they are in is the one in the bottoms, not on level 2. It certainly doesn't look like the same cell the people sent outside are put in.
