Any idea if they are going to have a steam sale? I've been waiting to buy Simcity4 thinking it would go on sale soon. Would hate to buy it and then it does.Pathing uses shortest route.Always. It doesn't matter if you have a nice wide highway which is one tile longer than a dirt track, traffic will take the dirt track.

I didn't mean to insinuate the game works perfectly or even near perfectly, but it works in the sense that the server issues are essentially fixed. If you don't care about the fact that everything is bugged in some way, sometimes small ways, you can at least play and mess around.Yeah I'm forced to disagree. If you're on the fence or don't want to play immediately it's better to wait. Virtually every aspect of the game is bugged in some small way or will likely be improved later. The developers were extremely ambitious with the scope of the simulations and weren't able to achieve acceptable results. Really, just not having cheetah mode alone is enough to wait.
The biggest reason to play now is just because this community is active and figuring things out. A couple weeks after they finish the game virtually every problem will have been solved and there's really nothing left to discover on your own, unless you, you know, are disciplined to ignore free information.
Edit: I tried to think of features that weren't bugged or working weirdly and the only thing I could come up with was parks and taxes
Seems like this shit started this weekend sometime:Pathing uses shortest route.Always. It doesn't matter if you have a nice wide highway which is one tile longer than a dirt track, traffic will take the dirt track.

I made more off my small stadium than I ever did off the pro stadium. I tried 2 maybe 3 evens in the pro stadium before I said fuck it. I didn't even break even on any of the events and was actually nowhere near close to it as I easily 100k off each time. Compare this to the small stadium I am using that I make easily 100k+ per event...that shit got demolished in a heartbeat.crap, I just went through that ordeal, lost about 500k, ended up heavily in debt and had to spend another 200k fixing my city back up again after removing it. I think in total I lost about 700-800k when I add in the avenue restructures and all the buildings I cleared for both the mass transit, the crapy streetcars and everything else. Only to lose 37-50k per event. Glad I tried it though.
Airports are a nightmare to do alone if you haven't prepared. Sucks that none of the people in my region log in anymore. Think I'll just start over somewhere else now that I know more about the game, won't make the same mistakes. I started with tons of oil, but sadly didn't get enough money to start the the thing until way later, by now my wells are almost dry (about 6k barrels per day). I got like 30K of 250K barrels to gothen I'm trashing those refineries and expanding my alloy recycling facilities but I doubt I'll stick around that long.![]()
Education is sucking up a lot of my funds. Stripped the college of all the dormatories and just left the two departments I'm taking bonuses from. I shut down the baseball stadium and soccer field at the high school and cut down on the number of school buses. Still education is bleeding me dry. I don't even have a primary open. I know I make about 250k per day but it still feels bad to see the -6-7K trickle each hour, it's like I'm being fined.
There's a zone I'm working on right now in my 2nd city that has the highway running all the way right through it, right next to a river. Kinda feels like cheating. All the traffic flows seemlessly.A lot of these god forsaken traffic problems would be easily fixed by allowing more than one entrance and exit out of a fucking city.
This is something I don't get, why does a city only have 1 entrance? Maybe not give a 2nd one right at the start, but tie it into population or some other objective.A lot of these god forsaken traffic problems would be easily fixed by allowing more than one entrance and exit out of a fucking city.
I hate you so much right now. I had the perfect map for oil exporting and couldnt maintain it because congestion prevented my trucks from getting in and out fast enough. There's a zone I'm working on right now in my 2nd city that has the highway running all the way right through it, right next to a river. Let's see it bro. There's a zone I'm working on right now in my 2nd city that has the highway running all the way right through it, right next to a river. Kinda feels like cheating. All the traffic flows seemlessly.
Will when I get home from work. And don't hate me too much Eonan, there's 0 Oil in the map, but there is some ore and coal. I have to say the trade port is fucking bad ass. My first city was oil rich and stuck with the one shitty highway entrance too.Let's see it bro.
I know that feel bro. Even a regional airport didn't alleviate my shipping problems, although they may be only to ship freight and not a specific resource.I hate you so much right now.
