My guess is we'll get to pick from a number of ~$20 games on Origin.

...or we'll all get copies of Spore.

Picked it up, had been wanting to get it since release day but held off after seeing the reviews from you all and the lovely story on BBC.

Is it possible to get in and play now?
Yeah it's fine but still buggy. If you want a smooth experience I'd wait until next week, but it's completely playable now. I actually haven't heard of someone being unable to connect yet today, and it's primetime.

Nice. That's really similar to what I've been attempting to pull off in sandbox, but I can't get it quite right (traffic being my biggest issue, but other shit like my OCD over the symmetry makes me fuck up, too). How's your traffic in this city?

Just gave in and bought it. Tuco's city makes me want to play it and sad at the same time. That is tiny.

Ran into my first real bug...my recycling center stopped producing alloy, which I need for my main source of income. I'd have to take out a loan to build a new one and who knows if that one would work. Bleh.

Be careful if you neglect upgrading an area of residential just almost went bankrupt when i dropped some parks and lost 40k people because of construction

yeah that happened to me too once.

another thing to be careful about... don't throw down the Willis Tower because it looks cool. It costs like 4k an hour and if you have traffic issues coming into your city then no tourists will show up and the effect is totally negated. That's my experience so far at least.

You have to really plan out having a "downtown area". I have a Willis Tower and Empire State Building next to each other and both bring in 20k plus. Football stadium though beats em both. Left my city alone while at the gym earlier (seriously, no cheetah speed sucks) and came back at -1.5k per hour... but 6million dollars. When I left I had just over 1.5. Can't get my pop over 150k, but I'm making money hand over fist.

I have one at 30k people making 7k/hr, seems pretty steady. I got it up to like 4 million bucks, then when I expanded the traffic exploded and the city is basically crashing... going to just build 2 cities in my region instead and see how that goes.

I really can't get over how absolutely terrible this game looks in these shots. Looks like it was made in 2003. Enjoy having a "city" as big as a god damn airport tuco. Must be pretty awesome to have such a vibrant nation of tiny villages separated by vast swaths of unusable space.

Why the airport tuco? You guys have a lot of tourist cities?

I think the space center would be awesome, especially if you got to watch rocket launches. Can you enter the "Great works" like its a city and look around?

I don't get the negativity... sure, I was mad about no pre-download and the server instability. I was ready for it though, EA teamed up with the realistic state of online gaming management just allowed me to shrug it off (not sure if you guys seen the article regarding MMO'ers talking about the SimCity release).

Anyway, the game looks pretty good. The screenshots don't do it justice. There's a lot of decision making involved in the game. Meaning it's not all about making squares and putting down whatever you want. To be "successful" you have to take into consideration long term planning. You have to consider how much everything will impact your hourly/monthly budget, if you play with friends divide up services, and be map/mineral aware to make the most of your specialization and industry.

The amazon pundits are ridiculous, i'm sick of everyone complaining about DRM. It's absolutely ignorant, I get it but you can't complain IF YOU BUY THE GAME. Boycott it or whatever.

Overall, the game is fun with friends, I do not like that water is finite and space is limited more so than I would like but, it's actually a great sequel. It's not a complete miss and they could easily fix the actual problems of the game itself and I think they will.

On an other note, the school I teach at participates in the "Future City" competition and will be taking part in SimCityEDU next year and integrating SimCity into our business program as a business simulation along with thousands of other schools this coming year.
