I currently have a Nexus 4 and cannot think of a single reason to get rid of it other than "want latest because it is out there." Granted, I wouldn't call myself a power-user, but it still runs butter-smooth, screen is perfectly acceptable for watching porn on the toilet, battery still does fine. I am perfectly content, but will probably get a Nexus 6 if/when they come out only because I can.
While there are a few little complaints I have about the Nexus 4, my primary ones are mediocre battery life and storage. I got a 16GB model and I have to shuffle files around (nandroid backups, roms, music) more that I'd like, but that's more of a convenience problem. Its battery life is the biggest issue, as I can rarely get through a full day on a single charge. That's why the possibility of the next Nexus being a Note sized device interests me, as those typically have good battery life. It's all rumor at this point though, but I don't plan on buying a new phone until next year anyway so It will have been out for a few months before I consider buying it.

I love my Virgin service for how cheap it is and the unlim data, but FFS they really need to keep up with the new phones. I hope the trend will continue, like when they had the S5 within a month of its other release, but when it comes to things like the Note / higher end LGs and HTCs it would be nice if they showed up at all, let alone 2 years later when there has already been 3 newer versions out.

I don't think I could go back to having to care about what phones my carrier sells. Being able to pop my sim into whatever phone I want (assuming compatible bands) is so much nicer.

Any particular reason not to grab a One M8 right now? I'm on Verizon. Just shattered the screen on my Galaxy S3 five min ago, apparently Amazon has the M8 for $79.99 /w contract.

What's the opinion on cases for this phone? I had an otterbox on my S3 but after going through 3 of the silicon outsides becaus they kept stretching and not staying on as well as the screen protector distorting the quality I wouldn't want to go that route again. Also this is a much bulkier phone.

LG G3 is better in some regards, so I'd compare cost and features on both first. (not that either is that far behind the other besides M8 on camera)

In-laws upgraded to the G3 recently and while I still prefer the M8, I can definitely see some rating the G3 higher.

I just bought this one for mine and I like it a lot. It does add bulk to the phone but for my big hands I prefer it that way. The phone is too thin for my hands without a case.

Amazon.com: HTC One M8 Case, Spigen? [AIR CUSHION] HTC One M8 Case Protective [Slim Armor] [Aintree Green] Air Cushioned Dual Layer Protective Case for The All New HTC One / HTC One M8 / HTC One 2 / HTC One 2014 (2014) - Aintree Green (SGP10814): Cell Phones Accessories

I tried the dot case and I ended up hating the flip part always covering the screen of my phone.

If you have UDP just cut down your S3 sim and pop it into the M8. Do not turn on the phone till you swap the sims! Throw the sim that comes with the M8 away. Just tell Amazon to keep your same plan if it asks you and just ignore the 2GB data plan warning.

Araxen, considering the UDP throttling they're doing not sure that's such an obvious choice now.

On cases I'd get it and see your own feel, wife swears by her M8 being cased the extra bulk isn't worth it to me though. And since screen replacement is free for something like 12 months and cheap after that (i think $60?) there's no real risk to test driving with it naked for a bit. It's quite durable.

Yeah, I love the M8 but ended up ditching the dot case as well. It wasn't necessarily that it covered the screen, but the spring hinge in it that meant I had to always hold it open plus couldn't just bend it all the way back around or it'd bend the spring and wouldn't fully close. Was a clever idea but probably should have just been a proof of concept or something and not marketed as an actual case.

The case for the S5 with the window though look pretty nice. Chick co-worker has one for hers and was showing me at a conference the other day. Nice leather, able to do things in the little window without opening the case, and it folded back.

That's a great looking case!

I've had my HTC One M8 for several months now. I always thought it felt like it was going to slip out of my hands at any time. Which, of course, it has. Several times. I've got a couple dings in it. Nothing major or detrimental to its actual use but still, it annoys me to no idea. I had no reason to wait to get a case, I was just lazy and stupid.

Anyways I just receivedthis case and I'm VERY happy with it.Would 100% recommend it to anyone.

Note: Anyone considering Sprint. Got two $25 slots left in my Framily (8/10 right now) if anyone wants those slots. (rates max at 7/10)

Well, my third LG G2 officially has a dead stripe in the touch screen now. If you are keeping score, this is my third defect in 7 months (G2#1 Acquired in January, headphone jack died in April. G2#2 Acquired in May, dead strip in touchscreen in June. G2#3 acquired in June, dead strip in touchscreen in August.) I guess LG will now join Samsung on my list of phones that suck. The Verizon rep told me last time that she couldn't give me a different phone but sometimes going direct to LG could work better so maybe I'll give that a shot and see if I can guilt them into giving me a G3 :p.

That sucks, I bought my wife and my dad G2s back in April or so, no problems yet. Hope they hold up.

Those Sprint commercials promote bestiality. That hamster is married to a woman and at least one of the guys is his son.
Plus you've got the two younger kids that could've been pulled straight out of Children of the Corn.

I have been waiting forever for Virgin Mobile to release a new phone that doesn't cost a shitload like the Galaxy 5 ($600) and they just released the HTC Desire for $300. I found it atQVC of all places for $200. Just a heads up if people are looking to upgrade as right now I am still rocking my Galaxy S2 lol.
