I'm going to be getting a new phone by the end of the year, and I'm watching closely at all the new things coming out. September will be a great month because of Samsung and Apple's press release. So excited!

I've been on the Android ecosystem since the OG Droid, but this time around I'm considering the iPhone 5s. Nothing against Android, but I'm just bored with it. Going Apple would give me an entirely new experience. I've realized that I don't use my phone for much, but I do want great battery life, easy to text and read web pages, and the surprise for me? A great, fast camera.

My Droid Bionic does, or did a lot of those things, but at 2 years old it's lagging behind bad. Current phones on my watch list are LG G2, Samsung Note 3, and iPhone 5s. We'll see what happens.

Well fuck, broke my Samsung S4 somehow. Put it in my pocket, drove home from work, took it out when I got home and the LCD/Digitizer seems damaged. There is not any physical crack or blemish at all on the exterior glass, but the screen is only partially displaying, like it would with a broken screen. Somehow the internal LCD/Digitizer got damaged. ~$210 part, if I want to repair it myself, which looks like a total pain in the ass.

Guess I'll just wait for October when I'm due for an upgrade again anyways, will have to reactivate and use my old S2 for the next month. Anyone know of any websites or business that buy broken cell phones? Used S4s sell for like $350-$450 and it's a $200 part to repair, seems like someone could still make some profit off of it, and the phone is in absolutely flawless condition otherwise, was only 3 months old and never touched by any damn kids, lol. I'm just not going to mess with it myself when I can buy another one for $200 new in a month if I decide to get the same phone again.

When does the Galaxy Note 3 come out again?

Nexus 5 reveal indicated by Nexus 4 price slash

Now is a great time to think about purchasing a new Android smartphone, with phones like the Moto X, Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and LG G2 all to consider. Many Android enthusiasts are also waiting for the introduction of the Google Nexus 5 stock Android phone, and we have some promising news on that today. The Google Nexus 4 is now the subject of a massive price slash, and this could indicate a Nexus 5 reveal soon.

We often find that price reductions of popular devices take place prior to the launch of a newer version, and in the US Google have just cut the price of the Nexus 4 made by LG by a whopping $100. The price of the 8GB Nexus 4 via the Google Play Store is now $199, while the 16GB version is now $249.

We'll remind you that these prices are for a contract-free Nexus 4, so these are extremely competitive prices. The Nexus 4 has also received a price cut or 25% or more in other markets including the UK, Spain, Canada, Germany and Australia. For example in the UK the 8GB Nexus 4 is now ?159 instead of ?239 and the 16GB model is now ?199 instead of ?279. The discounted Nexus 4's are likely to fly off the shelves, so if you want one you'd best be quick.

Although this is not proof that the Nexus 5 is about to be unveiled, it's certainly a good indicator as it suggests attempts to clear stocks of the current model before the arrival of the new device. Google is doing a pretty good job of keeping details of the next Nexus phone secret though. We're still not even sure who the manufacturer is, although LG and Motorola are probable names.
I would definitely buy a Nexus 4 if not for the fact that the Nexus 5 is just around the corner

The price drop is sooooooo tempting though

Switched jobs recently... My company provided AT&T iPhone will be deactivated today. The wife has Verizon and I will be adding a line to it. What do I get? I'm kinda bored with iOS and I still have an ipad, so I'm thinking android. So, S4, Moto X or HTC One? The s4 kinda feels cheap, but supposed to have a better screen? Help plx!

Any other opinions? I think I'm leaning towards the HTC over the S4, simply due to the design and speakers (use speakers a lot for podcasts while driving).

I've said it here several times before, but go look at them both in a store. The screens are significantly different(both in size, and color/brightness).

I would never buy anything Samsung again. I bought them when Android was still an emerging platform so it was bound to have problems, but fuck them for their after sales service.

The other companies can be just as bad, but at least I have not needed any customer service from HTC or Google in the first year.

Finally decided on tue G2 wish it was a little bigger but other than that it looks like it has everything I want, especially the snapdragon 800 for less than the note.

No bluetooth or aux input?

Pretty painful without those but if that is the case I think the One would fit you better if those better options aren't available to you.

I live in a pretty rural area. Can't find anywhere with non demo (no screens) models locally, so I can't really compare well. And yes, the wife stole my car and I'm stuck with her shitbox with no aux inputs for a few months.

HTC One is the best phone I've ever owned. Best battery life, too. Plus, it has rich, Corinthian metal....or something like that.

Google devices never having microsd slots make them a deal breaker.
Pardon my ignorance. Why the fuck did they go with that design choice? Google as a company has always struck me as one in favor of the consumer getting what they want. Just look at the Android OS. It can't add that much to the CPC can it?

Cloud storage or percentage of people that actually need a microsd slot is small enough not to warrant its inclusion in what is essentially a reference device.

Personally, I think they leave it out so Phoenix can bring it up every time.

How are release days for phone now, am I go into have to pre-order if I want it on day 1 or do they usually have a surplus?

With Dropbox and Google Drive, I don't miss having an SD expansion at all. Only time it would be useful is when you're flying somewhere and need to load up on media. In those rare instances I'll make sure my phone storage has the goodies I want to watch and listen to.
