Yeah currently Nexus 6 is the only device that works on FI. I wouldn't expect that to change anytime soon and likely only when they release the new nexus phone.
You should be fine unless you use a ton of Samsung gimmick bull shit. I moved from the note 2 to the one plus which is essentially a nexus if you root it and pick the correct ROM and I miss nothing from the note.
My biggest issue was the crappy month view on stock android. Once I found Acalendar I had no more complaints. In settings for that app I set it to use the calendar app to add appointments because acalender was missing an option I liked for multiple reminders on events. You might run into something like that but it's generally easy to fix.

Assuming you are talking about the 2015 Moto X it also does not do wireless charging.

I got the HTC one M9. I wasn't really looking at upgrading my M7 since I really liked that phone. It was getting slower and I was running out of space on it but I could still live with it. My carrier called me and offered the M9 for free IF i signed for 2 year contract. The M9 isn't really a ground breaking phone but it's what I was looking for. I wanted a better and faster M7 and the Micro SD slot give me the space that I wanted.
It is the S3 but faster and all that. All the S series is pretty similar just an upgrade to ram/cpu for the most part. Maybe there are pixel upgrades on the camera but I don't pay attention to that.
I liked mine for what it's worth.

my wife and son have the galaxy s2 currently(and my wife liked the phone), my twins are turning 11 and...its time for them to get a phone.
so my wife is going to upgrade her and older son's phone, and get 2 for the twins (my phone comes from work and i don't pay a cent for it)
so i went to her provider website and looked at the phone listings - and made her a list of what 3 phones to look at and on said list, in bold capital letters i wrote- do not get the galaxy s6.
the 3 phones i gave her for a choice
lg g4($200), the hdc one m9($100) and the galaxy s5($50)
she wanted a sd slot and initially was thinking the s6, but it does not HAVE the slot so that and the non removable battery= DO NOT GET.
i also told her, do not get a microsd card from the provider, i'll get a 32gig for every phone (15 bucks each-already ordered 5 last night(one for me
that will be less expensive than buying at the store.

I got the Dot view case for HTC one. It feels a tiny bit gimmick at first but it very protective and I'm kinda impressed how the phone work while the case is closed. I like how it work with the music apps while it's closed. I wish they would add more notifications and GPS functionality to it. it's decent and very unique looking.
