there seems to be alot of slow motion jump attacks with swords. stylistically, this season's combat feels like dragon age 2.

I laughed out loud at two points in last weeks show. First when Spartacus stabbed those two guys at once and they both did flips around his arms like a cheer leading move and secondly when the red haired chick stuck that blunt branding iron through the back of that guy's neck like he was made out of butter.
Funny how much better the new Spartacus appears in this role than the previous season. Kinda wishing it'd go on longer or that they'd go off the rails for the ending.
I think a lot of it has to do with other characters sharing equal screen time so he in effect takes a step back, at the same time complete 180 from season two. I didn't like him at all and now he really does seem to own the role aside from the fight scenes. Maybe it's just fond memories of Andy, all things considered though great leap forward from the previous season, spartacus and the show in general. The fake shag carpet pubic hair is a little weird, once you see it it can't be unseen.

A big problem is that Spartacus in season 1 goes through character development the entire season, but he is fully developed once he kills the dominus and then boom, actor change.
That and time heals with the delay for Andy to get better and maybe come back.
Then they decide to make Prequel now cause so much time gone by in real life.
Then more delay due to Andy health taking the turn for the worse.
Then his death.
Then the New Guy Liam no offense but compared to Andy that was going to break thru in that role and probally movies had he lived.
We all were so used to Andy's fighting style Presence in the role and on screen and Charisma that Actors either have or dont.
Like said no offense to Liam, so know matter who replaced Andy we fans would have Bitched.
Think between the Ratings falling some after all the delays and Andy's death, plus all the extra and cast contracts that had to be delayed extra 1-2 years due to waiting for him, then delay, then death to series lost its mojo some both in the ratings and with the creators, Exec Producers.
So with New Actor in lead due to all that decided to end show 2-4 years earlier then planned.
Think now Liam has grown into the role of the Lead, and us fans have accepted him and his style now they probally regret that cause thus year every fucking thing has been amped up 1000 percent.

I'm still happy that they're keeping this series short and sweet. I think a big reason this season has been so great is exactly because it's ending; they're packing in as much awesome shit as they can to go out with a bang. If there were still several seasons left I wager this season would be much more akin to last season.

This show seems to be in an oddly paced sprint to the finish. Recently, they appear to have diminished the role of Caesar. If they were still on the over-glorifying trend, he would have taken 3-5 cocks in the ass, not one from an anemic boy. Tiberius appears to take everyone from behind.

That does seem like a fair assessment. Marred characters, as indicated by the preview, rarely survive.
