At this point, with them throwing out the old EU, no there is nothing canon besides that mention. There was quite a bit in Legends. From everything I have seen so far of the characters in this, the only one that is even close to looking like how they look in Legends in the gunner in the U-wing, and even thats a pretty good stretch.


Edit : By the way, it is fucking killing me that its news that Kathleen Kennedy saying 'there's no Rogue One sequel planned" is even news. The biggest franchise in the world and people don't understand what this leads right into? Like 10 minutes after this ends?

incredibly, yes. I know many of us are on the far side of the Star Wars spectrum, but I can barely fathom someone looking for a Rogue Two movie, for a multitude of reasons...

You could actually make a sequel if you go with the idea of that some of the team survives, recruits some Bothans, and does the deed again for info on the second Death Star, showing how Palps played them. You have to invent a reason why none of them ever became major players in the Rebellion afterwards though.

But Gareth Edwards has had the best answer when asked about the possibility of a sequel; there already is one. It's the movie that started all of this 40 years ago.

Yeah that's pretty much what I knew some of the reaction would be after I saw it. Felicity Jones was the guest so naturally they'll show a scene that highlights her character.

Just as a heads up they've announced that the Japanese premier will be a week from today, so you might want to start avoiding social media and whatnot then if you're spoiler averse.

Because we'll find out that they succeed in getting the plans and delivering them to Princess Leia? Isn't the #1 selling point of this movie the whole Clone Wars vibe of space war?

Who lives, who dies, and how could ruin things for some folks. I personally suspect most of the main protagonists will bite it but some may either make it through the whole ordeal or the movie ends in a way that we know they probably die afterwards but can't quite know for certain ("If you can get them out then rendezvous with me on Alderaan. I'll be able to hide you and your parents from the Empire there Jyn." - Bail Organa).
