Some speculation that ...
... at the :21 mark in this vid the concept art and the mocked up torso to the right is of Vader out of his armor and that it will end up being him in what everyone thinks is the bacta tank scene.

Re: latest international - or others that I didn't pay attention or notice...
are they showing X Wings etc on the surface of the deathstar? doesn't that negate the "surprise them with small fighters, their defenses are not designed for that" of Ep 4? or would the empire just not notice from this movie to the next and change anything.

I don't think so. I believe that they have only been showing attacks on the gateway platform that allows entry through the force field around Scarif.
And even if they do attack the Death Star with fighters in R1, there isn't a lot of time between it and ANH to modify the battle station's defenses. Mere days.

True, maybe they will mention it as a side note or something and someone says to build some gun towers - that's why they are so shoddy in ep4... and R1 should end with the plans getting to leah/the ship from the beginning of ep4 or captian antillies (or whatever) right... because that was the point of the first act of ep4 was getting the plans to the actual rebellion.
So yeah, I do not really see much/any of the main cast surviving and I hope they keep it real, and not just have them all say "We did our job, now we pass it to you" and they fly off happy into the sunset.
They better still call them "stolen data tapes" for the consistency!!

It's supposed to end 10 minutes before the beginning of Ep. 4 though if you'll recall the plans were sent to Leia's ship via transmission, according to Vader. So we shouldn't see them being handed off to her.

Although the same source that had Ian McElhinney cast as General Dodonna also had another actress by the name of Ingvild Deila cast in the role of Leia so we may see her all the same.
According to some R1 video game tie in they are indeed identified as stolen tapes (you can see Jyn carrying them in many of the trailers and TV spots).

A ship that looks an awful lot like the Ghost from Rebels at :07 in this one. Probably just a similar freighter.
edit: Apparently that is in fact the Ghost. John Knoll (long-time ILM guy who came up with the idea of making a Rogue One movie in the first place) pitched the idea of having the team from the animated series make some sort of cameo in the movie.
