Here's my question about light sabers, must you hold them physically to use them or could a jedi or sith use one simply with their minds and if so couldn't they have multiple sabers going at one time?
i would imagine that they need to be held considering that they always turn off as soon as some one loses hold of one.

I'm not sure why you spoilered that. But, if that's true, how does he live? You lose the most one sided saber fight in history with a sith and you live?
Because some people don't want to read spoilers? Open the spoiler tag at your own risk.

He lives because Rey comes and interrupts their fight. Ren has no desire to kill Rey. Then Chew shows up in the ship and starts blasting which makes Ren take off. Finn ends up living. Rey gets the saber and meets with Luke for training.

There's saber throws in the Star Wars games and Vader throws his saber at the end of RotJ, but I assume nobody uses the force to control multiple sabers because using the force for complex tasks/heavy lifting takes a lot of focus. Even Yoda looked labored bringing the X-Wing out of the swamp.

At the end of the day, power level is largely dictated by whoever's writing the plot so we might see it some day.

This has happened a couple times in the EU/old shit. The last boss in KOTOR 2 had three floating lightsabers that chased you around the room. I think the power ups in Jedi Knight you could float the lightsaber around indefinitely. I can't recall specifically in the books. Just the Vidja games.

The VO is confirmed to be Maz Kanata, by Disney themselves.

You dont need to physically hold the saber, since we all saw Vader Saber throw in RoTJ but I think it takes a lot of concentration to focus on a small point (the button) and move the saber at the same time, thats why a throw is OK (since your not using the force to throw it) but floating sabers is probably too hard.

As for Yoda in ESB, I think he struggled a bit with that Xwing cause he was probably already dyeing and his power had faded a lot by that time. He was essentially a 95 year old man by the time of ESB.

You don't need to look or think too deep into this one. Common sense says it's a bad idea to throw away your only means of defense, not to mention the concentration it would require. But ultimately if they want to do it they will.

You would only pull that move on another force user. Which makes it a bad idea because you don't want the other guy turning your own saber againt you.
