This is starting to remind me of JJ's work in Star Trek where the first movie was passable but the second movie wasn't.

i'm not sure i blame JJ for the fairytale Disney ending. the studio probably pressured him to have Rey come out of the movie looking like a hero so little girls get riled up and make their parents buy them Star Wars tampons and what not. good storytelling sold out for marketing $$$. although that's a theme in Star Wars that goes all the way back to the start of it, so maybe it's fitting after all.

no, then Luke skywalker will look like a scrub loser since she went from dominating fagboy with little training at all to getting rekt after learning from Luke.

might as well just introduce the hyperbolic time chamber at this point for Kylo to power up if they want to keep going with him. personally i would just make him comic relief at this point.

I agree the Disney princess theme came from the top not JJ.

It was awfully nice of Ben Ren to wait for her to power up for what felt like ten minutes. Kind of like in Voltron, where they monsters sat there forever waiting for Voltron to form up, or form a blazing sword.

Yeah, they should have had Snoke made a comment or something about needing to complete his training to let the audience know he wasn't at full power level or something.

Would have made more sense.

There have been plenty of depictions of potent female force users in all of the various Star Wars materials outside of the movies before now. It was time for that to make it's way into the central story line imo. Is Disney looking at it from a marketing perspective? Most definitely. But for those who have been watching, reading, and playing Star Wars for the past 35+ years that shouldn't even register on the radar. If we'd gone 3 more movies without one that absence would have been more conspicuous than the mouse's marketing schemes.

Rey could have been male the same problems with the how they ended the the final battle of the movie would still be there. Though I will say if Rey had been male I don't think they would made the mistakes they did.

Rey was harmed, Kylo was harmed, Fin was harmed by they way they decided to play out that final battle.

They could have ended that battle on more inconclusive terms and doing so would have benefited all three character in regards to future movies.

The absolute oldest he can be is 30. Leia would have basically had to get knocked up in the ewok village for that to be the case though. So figure he's in his 20's.
