Mr. Poopybutthole
I remember people criticizing the prequel fights as being over choreographed and too flashy.
I mean it was more than just over-choreographed, most of the "fights" were just dancing while they swung their lightsabers into each other rather than trying to kill the other guy. I mean the lightsaber fight between Luke and Vader at the end of RotJ is about as sophisticated as two guys swinging lead pipes at one another, but it's still the best fight out of all the movies. The Obi-Wan vs Anakin fight came so close to perfection, but then they completely ruined it with that ludicrous sequence where they just stand in front of each other spinning their lightsabers around for like 10-15 seconds before they clash again, and then completely flubbed the ending with that high ground shit.
The fight choreography in the NT should be somewhere in between OT and prequels when it comes to proficiency, they don't have the lightsaber forms that were honed over thousands of years from the prequels but Kylo has been trained and Rey is a natural prodigy on the scale of a vergence. But they just look terrible.
f you pull in the Clone Wars TV series, there's dozens more examples of the Jedi order being complete garbage
It comes across more as the result of hundreds/thousands of years of complacency rather than outright retardation.
