Carrie Fisher got rocketed out into space and Mary Poppins' herself back into a ship but a fucking bombing run is what got some jimmies rustled?

The force is pretty much magic and things that happen as a result of it are easier to accept than what is clearly just the writers not having a clue that things don't fall in space. Hell, even showing some small thrusters firing on them would have made it significantly easier to believe

That would make them torpedoes though, not bombs.

Or would they be missiles? Rockets?

Rockets I'd imagine if they were just short bursts of thrust to get them moving towards the target via shifting away from the relative velocity of the launchship or whatever.

It still wouldn't make sense in place of actual missiles, but would allow for the bombing concept without it being completely absurd

Rocket assisted bomb.

or hey, how about they forshadowed Leia's force powers with here, idk. Force pushing the bombs in the derelict bombers into the dreadnaught?
Just like the RLM note. this would not be dumb luck. An obstacle, the bombers are put out of commission, they failed. Old lady Liea sits down, closes her eyes and... suddenly the bomber doors open, and the bombs are propelled forward. Cut back to Leia opening her eyes.

now you have Leia using force powers in a non retarded way. And you have them getting out of that situation, by something other then dumb luck. AND it works in the fictional narrative.

Hell, it could even have been done post death, in reshoots, and editing, with one of the many close ups of her looking old and tired, staring at the camera.

there is precedent for Jedi powered people doing god-mode shit when its convenient. but dropping bombs in space is just silly because it negates every space craft in the SW universe.

Maybe dropping bombs was Johnson's twisted idea of setting a precedent for dumb shit that progressed into hyperspeed negating all shields in the SW universe?

Star Trek has dozens of doomsday weapons and impossibly powerful alien technologies that are almost never, ever brought up outside of their specific episodes. It's just something that you get as sci-fi universes expand. Heck, there's one episode of DS9 where chemical weapons are used to make a planet inhospitable and that alone looked it would wreck up basically everything everywhere forever.

Farscape, as part of a season finale, went back over its own past and looted all the cool shit they had come across to tackle an impossible problem. It was such a cool reconstruction of what is otherwise a lame trope. Farscape in general was big on the reconstructions.

A "gravity well" is just gravity. It simplifies the visualization of how gravity works.

The "gravity well" of small objects exists but is negligible for matter at the scale depicted in TLJ bombing scene. THAT is the problem.

Gravity exits between any two pieces of matter in space, no matter the distance. But it follows the inverse-square law. At long distance it may feel like nothing, but it's there.

Gravity still follows relativity, so no its not always there no matter the distance.

The most entertaining thing about this movie are the arguments over how fucking retarded it was.

It was pretty. Outside of that it was complete garbage.

I don’t even want to watch this Rifftrax’ed.

The bombing run was very clearly meant to reveal theme through imagery to the viewer, rather than to make sense from a battle strategy or physics standpoint. This was very clearly a conscious production decision.

There is so much actually wrong with this movie. Please fucking stop.
What theme? That society at large is retarded and will happily shovel their dollars into Disney's dumpster fire?

God Rose looks so fucking fat in that clip. Almost had to shut it off.

The revulsion does not age well with time.
Rey looking chunky too.

I think she needs to layoff of the green walrus titty milk.

She stole Snokes' personal ship to get back on the Falcon, obviously she partook of all the snacks on board.

I watched the RLM Plinkett review of Last Jedi. Liked the vid a lot.

But it did mean that I had to endure watching bits of that terrible film again. So bad, so bad.
