He meant that the idea of a kid being gunned down for know reason impacted him personally because the fucking kid looks JUST like him. Of course, then we found out all that media hype was bullshit and that isn't what happened. But in context, what he is talking about made perfect sense.

I don't think that statement can be defended by anyone other than him, it was retarded.

Edit: so Chaos, the follow up is that he does not feel move when a white teenager get shot because it does not look like him.

That is the "obvious" followup, like I posted earlier. That might not be the reality of it though.

He is the POTUS and should think before he opens his mouth. It was a poorly thought out response that only evoked race in most people's minds whether his intentions were as pure white as the palms of his hands.

and it was insane for him to stoke racial strife like that, on top of eric holder(have to double check) paying al sharpton to go down to florida and increase tensions to the point where florida broke the law to have zimmerman tried to try and sate the angry mob that was incited but let's forget that.

If a kid who looked like he could very well be related to me got shot, and the media was hyping it up, yeah man that would have an impact on me. That doesn't mean anything about any other situation, it has nothing to do with race really, it just inspires an emotional reaction in him. As it would in anyone.

No, it isn't. It is only the obvious followup if you are a trolling tryhard on a gaming message board you has to constantly be enraged about everything. If it evoked race in your mind, that says more about you than it does about what he said.

What does "look like you" even mean? That is the whole point. You could hold up a million pictures of Trayvon and Obama next to each other and a million people will go back and forth on whether they look alike except for just color.

His mind was probably in the right place like I said. His comment was poorly thought out.

It evoked race in your mind also. It evoked the thought that it couldn't be race but it triggered race in your mind. You know it, I know it.

I didn't care when he made the comment, I don't care now. I am just discussing the concept of that the "obvious" interpretation is not always reality.

When he said that I didn't think "oh they are both black so of course they look alike." Nor did I think "oh the kid was black so of course he commented on it." They legit look alike. Minus the middle fingers and stolen chains. He was responding to the seeming depravity of the alleged crime, the idea that he could be any one of us. And then, of course, we found out that was all horseshit cooked up by media outlets. But at the time it was an emotional appeal that many people identified with.

My point is you thought to yourself "race isn't the issue here" you definitely thought about race and said to yourself that it wasn't what Obama was trying to say. You brought race up in your mind. So did everyone else. That shouldn't have happened. He had to know that was going to happen. He should have worded it differently.

"Uhhh my fellow Americans uhhhh we have a great uhhh travesty that uhhh happened today. A poor child was uhhhh shot down in the uhhh streets. As I looked upon his uhhhh picture, I thought to myself, this is the face of all of our uhhhh children, this is the neighbor kid next door uhhhh this could be your or my child."

Something to that effect would have been better and would have made no waves comparatively. Racists would have still complained but only the diehard racists. He just left himself open for too much commentary that wasn't necessary and caused a distraction during the case.

So it is Obama's fault because other people can't see beyond race? Come on. This is really stretching it. And no, I don't think I considered race, not until I saw other people bringing it up. Even if that were false and I totally considered race, that isn't what scrappy up there was implying.
