if you have a microcenter near you and really are jonesing for a legion go the 2TB open boxes are $720+tax

thats the LA CA one and it has 34 for sale. The 2TB models were free upgrades microcenter did at launch, I'd bet a lot are returns from people who didn't realize the go runs windows (so is way more complicated than switch/deck) or people who decided they would rather get the oled steam deck which was announced after this released.

i think the oled deck is probably still better for many people but the go specs are really, really nice. when they release an oled update next year (unless they abandon the line lol) i bet that'll be amazing.

Made an ad for my 64GB. Set the price high so if someone bites I'll make the effort to upgrade. If no sale, I'll just continue playing this thing.

spronk spronk Does EMUdeck run better on Windows or SteamOS? I just put Win11 on my deck last night, and saw that Emudeck has a windows version now. the WindowsonDeck sub likes Launchbox for windows, but probably just put emudeck for windows and try it out.

Edit:
Well, if anyone was wondering, emulators and getting things set up is still an effort of love, and is tedious as fuck. Seems every guide out there for the Steam Deck with Emudeck sounds easy enough, but then you get into it and it's like but mines not doing this, or they can't talk shit about the ROMs or the keys, or firmware you need, so your shit doesn't work and have to figure out through innuendos and weird comments on Youtube/Discord wtf you actually need.

On top of things like a fresh windows Install doesn't have Steam already loaded... so in hindsight, obvious as fuck, but you need to have Steam installed on the Deck, for Emudeck to actually work. Who knew?

I really want an OLED but can't motivate the price difference. I love my Steam Deck though, it made me work on my back log and try Indie games I would not even consider on my PC.

I'm curious why other brands does not use the Steam Deck button layout though. Personally I like the D-Pad/Button/Sticks symmetry better on the SD compared to the old X-Box controller layout.

I still don't understand this form factor. There's so few PC games I play that I prefer or even tolerate controller use. That's not even getting to the question of how often you would want to get involved in playing them on the road. Not saying there aren't niches like people to travel for work and whatnot but they seem slightly more popular than I would think?

They're great for emulation and/or playing turn based games where you can easily pick it up and put it down. Can't always be sitting at a PC with 2 kids.

I can say personally after working on a PC 40-60 hours a week the last thing I want to do at night is sit at my PC and game. I could see myself laying down on the couch/bed and playing games though.

I've been holding off buying one in hopes they make a v2

Just off the top of my head games like any fromsoft game, Witcher 3, Hades 1/2, RPGs, etc.

I certainly wouldn't play any 1st/3rd person shooters or anything with precise aiming requirements

I play mostly older games I missed. Monster Hunter World was great on the SD. The Emulation is also great, everything from NES to Switch and PS1 and maybe PS2.

I would not use it for FPS like games though as I suck playing them on controller. But games like Elden Ring and other action RPGs are great on it.

Also works great as a "Playstation Portal" if you have a good WiFi network and use Chiaki4Deck.

yeah i was on a six week trip to asia and took my steam deck and only played dave the diver the entire time. it was great. that plus a kindle paperwhite and you are never, ever bored. After I came back I haven't touched my steam deck once so while I could give mine away to a relative and upgrade to an OLED I figure might as well wait and see if v3.0 is coming out. Plus SteamDeckOS is starting to run on 3d party hardware now too.

i wouldn't play anything intense or that requires a lot of precise input, like FPS or RTS. Vampire Survivors is like the perfect deck game, since all you do is move without ever pressing buttons. I put Simpsons Hit n Run on it (modded) and thats really fun too. ROMs are great i guess but i don't particularly have any nostalgia for old nes/snes/etc games.

Cult of the Lamb, Stardew Valley, Forza Horizon all great on deck too

Any kind of tactics game. Top down shooter type games. Survivor games. Metroidvanias and other platformers. Top down adventure/puzzle games. Basically all the good controller based games are perfect for it. There’s hundreds of good ones out there, just sounds like they’re not your type of games?
