The dream team tested it,with flags marking where the bags were, thus completely blowing any sort of real sample of how long the challenge would take right off the bat.
That's a monumental mistake. Are they just getting lazy after so many years or have they just been lucky to not have something like this happen before? Who are the dream team, btw? I remember watching the "walkthrough" of the challenge yesterday and someone made 3 balls in the holes all at the same time and I was wondering how many takes that took or if they're just that good with these type of games.

They could have made this the best season of all time, if they brought back Morgan to lead the beauty team.

I think Jeff and whomever else were in charge were too lacksadaisy just trying to get as much drama out of this. When you had Debbie go over on heat exhaustion, then Caleb in the back of them while Jeff is asking medical about Deb only to realize a minute later oh what's going on over there, meanwhile Cydney also collapses and it took Jason dragging her to shade before anyone realizes what's going on with her, how about at that point pulling everyone into the shade and handing out water? I know the challenge was still on but feels like they weren't prepared at all for people collapsing in that heat.

No surprises on Alecia, she shouldn't have been on that tribe in the first place. Didn't care for her and reminded me too much of sid from ice age for some reason, not that the men on that tribe aren't douchebags. Finally the merge, hopefully they don't merge yet again in 2 weeks like last season.

You can't be good at that messed up skeeball game, the super hump mid-ramp makes it a near total random game.

I thought about that shot with the 3 balls at once as well and thought it must have been really damn hard to do unless they just got lucky.

I don't recall a digging challenge ever taking that long before. They must have buried the stuff deeper than usual or something but that looked shitty. I did chuckle to notice that when Jeff yelled "Everyone on the crew is essential personnel" that the camera men did not come to help nor did Jeff tell them to. Sucks for Caleb but I guarantee he will play again soon.

In a way it was nice that they had all this medical drama because the brawn tribe is just so god damn shitty to watch and Alecia's boot was the most boring thing ever. Jason and Scott are giant douche bags and Alecia is crazy terrible at Survivor. Dalton Ross pointed out that Scott talking about how he was an "NBA Champion" was pretty lame because he scored a grand total of 39 points in the entire year that his team won the championship and didn't get a single minute of playing time during the playoffs. I always wondered how guys that just ride the bench all year feel about being "champions" and I guess now I know, they wave around other people's accomplishments as their own. Anyway, thank god there is no more brawn tribe after next week and I wish Jason and Scott the worst of luck going forward. I don't feel bad for Alecia though, she was a terrible player and probably wouldn't have gone anywhere even if she did make the tribe shakeup.

Why did brawn vote off the black guy again? was it really the goggles? (half-paying attention)

I mean i know the other brawn chick commited survivor suicide, just crazy how Alecia was able to make it that far.

I think they voted out Darnell to secure Cydney. Sure, they trusted her, but why not take away all her other options to guarantee her loyalty.

I'm not gonna shed a tear for Jennifer, Darnell, or Alecia... but I really don't like Scot and Jason. They are total assholes.

I have to imagine that the challenge really made the producers rethink what they are going to put them through in the future. Losing half your cast because you had them dig around in the sand for an hour in 110 degree temps is bad for business.
It seemed like a poorly designed challenge. The circle was just too large, and they didn't know how deep to dig.

This is one of those things about caches I learned in the Army. Unless you know exactly where something is buried, being off by a foot may as well be a mile.

This season is legit.

Blondie must have been annoying as fuck, because I think the guys were a bit harder on her than they needed to be. Sucks for Caleb, he could have gone a long ways in the game.

I finally found some time to watch this season and I was thinking the same thing when I got to this week's episode. Who on that staff thought it would be a good idea to make them dig that long in the heat? I guess it was 118 degree's during that challenge, just wtf.
Survivor: Kaoh Rong recap: Signed, Sealed and Delivered | EW.com

They'll have Caleb back on but this was a good cast for him to work with.

Also, WTF at the worm in her ear. The staff didn't step in and check her out? What if it was something that could given her hearing loss. I was very surprised nobody stepped in from the staff to check that shit out. That was horrifying.

Edit: Found this:Survivor: Kaôh Rong: Jeff Probst breaks down the premiere episode | EW.com
Q:What exactly is the Survivor protocol for when someone has a bug enter their ear and start rooting around their head? Was the medical department consulted at all when Jennifer was experiencing that massive pain?

Probst:Yes, our medical team was aware. They knew she thought she had something in her ear, but as you saw on the show, it was inside her ear canal so there was no easy way to get it out. Had it become a life-threatening situation then she would have been taken out of the game. Our protocol is this: We will not help any player in a way that gives them any kind of an unfair advantage. So if someone is dehydrated, we can?t give them electrolytes and an apple. That wouldn?t be fair to other contestants. But lancing a boil or giving a contestant some wraps to put on a sunburn is acceptable. In this case I would have said that if they can get the worm out easily to go ahead and do it. Fortunately, that little sucka came out on it?s own and of course.? we got the shot!
Edit: more stuff on the ear bug..Survivor's Jennifer Lanzetti blames Jeff Probst's advice for her early elimination

SK: You will go down in Survivor history as having one of the most nightmarish moments the show has ever seen when the bug embedded itself in your ear. A lot of people have been wondering why you sat there and suffered without any medical evaluation. Did you call for a medic?

JL: Of course I did. That thing was in my ear for two days. Just because you call for a medic doesn't mean they bring you one. I don't know where people get that idea from [laughs]. They will wait right up until you literally are on your last breath and you can't take it anymore before they bring you out. It's gotta be good drama. My ear started bleeding for 24 hours, possibly 30 hours, before they brought the medic out. I asked for the medic quite a few times. At one point I was actually screaming for the medic. That cry was real. Those tears were real. That was hard and very painful. Finally, they brought a medic over. I was crippled. I was on the ground rolling around just screaming. I could barely move anymore.

SK: When the bug finally crawled out of your ear, I think everybody was screaming at their TV, wondering why your tribemates didn't grab it right away and kill it. What was the deal?

JL: Right? When I saw that, I was pissed. I was like, "What the hell?" It was crazy [laughs]. The medic eventually put an antibiotic solution in my ear. He goes, "If there's anything in there, this will kill it." I was like, "If? Really, dude? Really?" It started to crawl out and that's when I screamed.

You know I always kind of figured, just based on the fact that no one has died yet, that on the super hot climate season production would make sure the players would boil and drink X amount of water before challenges, and they'd do those challenges in the AM before the heat got really crazy. I was always fine with thinking that and it didn't hurt my perception that the show was 'real'. Guess it's a little more real than I thought I can't believe we haven't had way more evacs. Only other thing I can think of is that production was like fuck it this season, lets see what these dummys do if don't remind them to hydrate and do the challenges in the afternoon, will be good for ratings.

They got lucky with Debbie I think. If Joe and she didn't recognize what was happening to her it could have been a lot worse for her. She didn't panic or anything which helped herself recover.

If you watch the preview clip for the challenge those bags were buried deep.

Put all this time into building an obstacle course at the start just to have everyone equalized for nearly the entire event at the sandbox digging piece.

The dream team are the people who test out the challenges before they do it "live" with the actual game contestants. It's during these tests that they make adjustments if something proves to be too hard or too easy. So basically, with them giving the testers a huge advantage the contestants won't have, it completely skewed the results to the point that the test was pretty much worthless. This was a huge brain fart on production's part, but then again, to me, pretty much everything about this season is a brain fart. From mis-cast people, to the timing of filming, to inappropriate challenges in relation to the weather. I know this is 4 days late, and mostly answered already, but I figured I'd do it anyway, as for the first time it's not the people that are making this season kind of suck, it's the decisions made by the producers.

plus the "treasure" is a super tiny bag.

Not one person on that that dumb ass "Dream Team" is smart enough to say, "Hey, we got flags and shit, digging so deep, my fucking arm disappeared trying to find a tiny ass crack bag" how are near dehydrated/starving/sunburned survivors gonna do this w/o flags?

I figured all of that...I meant specifically who are they? Are they ex-contestants? Or just some guys at CBS that were good at puzzles and obstacle courses?
