A Mod Real Quick
I wouldn't have minded FF13-series if they got rid of auto-attack. I know you can manually do stuff, but the way the battle system was setup you felt extremely slow if you did that.
Well, from the looks of it, FF13-LR is quite a bit different:http://www.ign.com/videos/2013/06/20...n-live-e3-2013I wouldn't have minded FF13-series if they got rid of auto-attack. I know you can manually do stuff, but the way the battle system was setup you felt extremely slow if you did that.
Tales usually has extra characters with certain things you may want to use on some fights. I dont mind having some characters i may not use until a certain point in the game - or just level up them up later to see their abilities in action. I think this same convo sparked up once on foh forums last year, and the general consensus was that the majority dont like big cast, which is cool. However that aside when was the last time you gave a fuck about the story in FF? I honestly dont even remember what 13 was about anymore, 12 and X-2 is the same way, as well as 9.Yeah, I'm pretty disappointed that Type-0 was never localized and probably never will be. Maybe someone will do a fan translation of it at some point, probably isn't hard to patch PSP roms.
I'm personally not big on having a huge cast of characters unless it's something like Suikoden where they all get some use. People who you don't actually use in fights ever end up feeling pretty inconsequential to me and I think it makes the flow of games weird. FFX handled this problem pretty well with the in-combat swapping and making everyone feel useful (except Khimari, who sucked in the story and in battle!).
I do wonder how FF15 is going to handle this, it looks more Kingdom Hearts-ish with you controlling the main guy and having people back you up. I don't mind larger casts of characters in the way KH does it either with people joining based on your locale and such. Hopefully we get more information on FF15 soon.
The PSP version of FFT (War of the Lions) has PvP. It is horrendously unbalanced, but interesting. The cut scenes, better translation, and improved voice acting are top notch though. Very much worth playing and used PSPs are probably cheap at this point (and have a Composite out, so you can use the PSP as a controller and just play it on a real TV). Emulators can play the game but can't do the cut scenes (yet).Just stopping in to say I'm celebrating my 15th year of playing Final Fantasy Tactics with another complete play through as per my yearly tradition (although sometimes I play it a couple more times than once a year) and it's still simply just a fucking masterpiece. It's so good that it's not even a devotion, it's effortless to enjoy even after all these many years and to me that says it all.
If there ever came a day where a game this good came out with the ability to play PvP/Wage Wars with your own formation online I don't even know how I'd react because it hasn't happened after 15 years so I've accepted the fact that it probably won't. Regardless, I can't ever stop seeing the potentional of the mechanics to be expanded upon and involve player interaction into a game like this every time I go through it.
Cheers
I've played that FFT mod in the past. It was great fun, and quite challenging for the first ~65% or so of the game. Sadly, in the later part of the game, the mod author gives basically every unit the "immortal" tag, which flags it immune to every status effect, equipment break/steal, charm, etc. It really took away from the fun for me, and I ended up not finishing it.Or you can be a man and play the REAL Final Fantasy Tactics
