I picked up FF7 during the sale. Didn't know about this HD patch, but sounds like a pain in the ass that I probably won't bother with especially after hearing the changed music and sound effects. Why would they fuck with perfect music? Hadn't played the game in 15 years and the feels I was feeling got me all nostalgic. Game is so fricken awesome.

They did make them on real platforms. They are much more profitable to port to mobile. It's not like today's smartphones aren't more powerful than the machines the games were originally made for.

I remember selling my copy of FF VII and strategy guide on ebay after I had beat it. Back when the internet and game guides weren't as big, I was able to pull in more than retail cost for a brand new game/guide (the strategy guide was rare apparently; also you could create extra ebay accounts and bid your shit up).
I'm tempted to buy it again for the nostalgia.

It's a TAD too early to call games that haven't been released turds, unless good graphics > turd in your world in which case you are probably right. If you judge a game by its graphic quality then by all means, 6 and 7 are both turds too as they were extremely good looking in their times, especially 7 had the best cutscenes seen on a console at that point.
Now not saying I'm feeling Lightning will be a particularily good game, but it could be, regardless of the setting/character(and Lightning is basically the only character that didn't suck atrociously in 13 imo) but I kinda liked what I've seen of 15 so far.

Lightning Returns looks great so far, no idea what y'all are talking about.
XV though... even as a graphics whore I can't get behind that game. Character design is awful, and they can fuck right off with the KH-inspired combat. (But I'd still take it over a VII remake.)

Yes FF games have always been pushing the graphical edge for their respective generations- but also musical, that seems to have stopped as well. Story is also derp-de-derp land as well now days, many say they where forced into better story telling back when the visuals could not express everything they wanted to- but now that they can, that is what is suppose to drive everything...or something like that.

I don't understand your comment. Lightning Returns is kind of like the beta test of "KH-inspired combat" in a FF game. They're going to use what works well with the new combat structure and cut what doesn't work well when it comes to this particular series. They're virtually the same thing, just FFXV has more characters. Almost like GTAV has 3 main characters.

LR is still heavily based on the paradigm system, XV is a completely different thing.
And xadion, let's be realistic here--FF stories have always been in derp-de-derp land. XII is pretty much the only exception, and XIII is certainly no worse than anything they wrote for VII-X2. The series has never made it above the level of mediocre anime in that regard.

Didnt like paradigm to begin with thus still reaffirming my disgust with 13 in its entirety. Outside of visuals which FF has always had its just terrible. Honestly its had some of the worse cast of characters in a while.

Great news, FFX was a great game. I got stuck at the last boss and never beat it, I feel like getting this and starting over is what I need to do.
